This is ridiculous. So the man who saved a billion dollar company, got paid and oh my god? He has cash? Art? An appartment? Shame on him shame. At the most a peg wood wall and uncomfortable small chairs. I'm guessing he also used knives and folks. Damn this foreigner damn him.

This is begining to sound like a movie plot right out of Scarface and Carlitos Way.. firstly he is already a millionaire for the 20~ years or so he has lived in Japan, secondly why would he dash to Brazil for some lose change when he LEGALLY has millions in a Japanese bank account here.

guys I know who have been detained all had their homes and even offices ransacked while they were in detention, police contacted everyone stored in their cell phones.

Auditors, Accountants or the CFO planted documents thats in the public domain for shareholders to see, yet no media has even attempted to access all this public domain knowledge, where does this imagination come from..

Given that Nissan is also indicted, the board and Saikawa should also be raided and have no access either

This isn't a hotel! The guy has personal belongings and most likely has some sort of free rental agreement and rental rights. A company can't just barge into a guys place, look and take his stuff unless there is a police warrant! Nissan are really overstepping their boundaries here and have shot themselves in the foot. What were they thinking?

Nissan messed up they contaminated the apartment, any evidence could have easily been planted by Nissan. They should have gotten a police warrant.

Yesterday, at a Japanese news report, saikawa said every thing possible to say in Japanese except his part of accepting responsibility for this mess at Nissan. I forgot one more issue, lets check saikawa's salary & expenditures. I am sure he is not living like a poor man.

They will audit the place and do the money trail on the items, like the paintings and designer furniture, and see on WHOSE account these items were purchased .

When it is all done - Ghosn is going to owe a lot of money. -- as there will likely be a Civil case brought against him - and some of the expensive items become collateral .

Saikawa & Co will also have to pay.

But Ghosn is the BIG fish - and they will nail him first.

In the end, I seems, Nissan Co will dissolve, bc it will not work in the way the alliance was manipulated by Ghosn

While current Nissan executives can walk freely to their home and office, what will happen to those evidence then, they're being indicted too right.

@Semperfi - Regarding the comments about ownership of the apartment you are correct. Nissan is "in fact" the owner of the apartment.

It appears however that Nissan has already entered the apartment for an "audit"

The Rio apartment contains three safes that Nissan has yet to open, according to the court filings. The carmaker found them when it did an audit of the apartment following Ghosn's firing, the company said.

I believe in a court of law any evidence gathered in the Rio apartment would be considered to have come from an unsecured and contaminated site (i.e. Nissan could plant something there). I am not saying Nissan did this but now one can speculate this.

The employer's right (Nissan) to enter the employee's domicile is often protected (i.e. the employer cannot perform an unreasonable search of the property). However, we do not have access the the contractual agreement between Nissan and Ghosn allowing him to live in the apartment so we do not know what the "rules" of the game are.

In this case however it would seem to me that the proper thing to do would be to seal off the apartment and allow neither side to enter until the case is settled. This would maintain the integrity of any evidence gathered at the apartment and such evidence would have a proper chain of custody.
