Police believe that family trouble led to the murder of an entire family. Gee, ya think?

the "truth behind it" is that one family member flipped out, killed his whole family including a little girl, and then jump from a very very high bridge.
Do the hustle
Such a tragic end to a whole family. These family mass-murders seem to be very common in Japan and are increasing year by year. I have no doubt it is due to the flailing economy, declining salaries and uncertain future putting a lot of pressure on people and they just snap. It seems like every day there is at least one family murder and two or three family mass-murders every month. Couple this with murder suicides and youth suicides and it’s easy to conclude there is a huge problem with mental and emotional health of many Japanese people that is being totally ignored by the government.

No. Not very common. The reason this is all over the news is precisely because it is so unusual.

Sorry it is common, not always reported, in my street a father killed his 3 sons and himself they were over 40 yo and house bound? 2 streets over similar. A small walk away another mass killing. It's mostly not reported. Don't want to loose that face?

If it is mostly not reported, then how do you know it is common?
Strangerland
Of course it’s always reported. It doesn’t always make its way to English news though. This is why determining how much something does or doesn’t happen based on the amount of news you read or don’t read about it is entirely illogical. Yet people do it on this site every day.
The point stands however. If it’s not reported then how could you know whether or not it’s common?

Mass murder need at least four or more person in a single location killed so it true that it's not common in japan. However, familicide is very common here in Japan.
Strangerland
It’s common everywhere in the world. This is not a Japan specific thing.
