The victim stepped down from his truck and tried to speak directly to Ito when the men had both stopped. But Ito drove away and the man was forced to cling to the mirror of the truck.

The victim should not have climbed onto Ito's rig.

How did the truck driver not know the guy had a knife or was trying to attack him? He shouldn't have touched the truck or gotten out of his car.

The guy shouldn't have driven off but the "victim" shouldn't have climbed onto the step either. Sounds like he also suffered from road rage but b/c he's the only one who got injured, presto, he's the victim.

I can only guess more of these incidents are being reported. Never heard about this type of thing in Japan until the last few years.

In the days of smartphone cameras and heavy police surveillance, why do you need to do something so stupid as hold on to a truck for 10 minutes?

He tried to act tough by climbing onto his truck? How did that work out then? Both idiots

Agree with the above. He's an idiot for getting on the truck.

I feel bad when I hear these cases.

Just another drive home after a long work day and the next moment you are arrested for "attempted murder".

Remember: it can really happen to any one of us.

It takes two to make a fight. Both of these reckless idiots should be facing charges.

So much pride such little common sense.

Agree with the driver in that he just wanted the guy to let go. Killing him was obviously not a consideration, but a little thought would show that it was an extremely dangerous thing to do.

Luckily the 50-yr old only suffered a twisted ankle, but why after eight months has this just now become news? Have they been searching for the truck driver, or has he been in prison and have the police finally got around to agreeing on the charge?

Take your pick!

Reinforce the false belief that the JP's always get their "man"

Slows news in the "crime" section!

This is "news?"

Let’s see a change in the law so that these incidents do not become commonplace!

Im getting a dash cam and starting a YouTube channel next month-I’ll retire on the proceeds in a year or two....

Such incidents already are illegal.

People need to learn to take the high road. No pun intended.

Unlike action movies where the vehicle is properly set up for such action, I wouldn't advise the average Joe trying this on your own.
