I hate to be judgmental because I was not there, but couldn't he have run over and helped her?

yeah, like you would run over and ask a crazy guy with a knife while he is killing somebody, "excuse me, mate, would you mind easing off on some of that stabbing there?"

According to latest reports, the murder suspect is the victim's FORMER HUSBAND...

...the suspect has been arrested moments ago.

Stabbings seem to be in the news more and more these days…

Yet another stabbing?

*“Editor: Story has been updated to report that a suspect is in custody”; “*ex-husband detained- The first publishing of this article was about 4;20pm and the editor’s update & headline addition was at 6:35pm. Would always be helpful if the editor or a moderator would highlight/time stamp within the threads so many could disregard prior posts/comments made on incomplete information.

Another case of if I can’t have you the no one can! Pride comes before the fall,, if only his fall was a quick drop with a sudden stop. RIP Sayaka.

I think it’s refreshing @Concernedcitizen**** to see JT has more than just one *@Concerned Citizen* that cheers on the police, the government and truly cares about crime victims in Japan. Good for Youz.

Agreed with your post earlier @RiskyMosaic but it seems the NPA & Ministry of Justice will not publish specific stats on “Intra-family Violence”, despite occurrences like this one being an almost daily story here and in local media. (Speaking of which, Tokyo Reporter site & Twitter have gone silent for 2 months now.)

*- @RiskyMosaic 8:44am “According to this, crime is down overall, but violent crimes (murder is the example given) is up. I think 2020 and 2021 probably stand a little outside existing trends because of the pandemic. That said, I’m not a criminologist.*

*[**A Ministry of Justice 2020 white paper on crime has shown that Japan’s figure for reported criminal offenses fell from the previous year by 8.4% to 749,000 cases. Crime statistics peaked in 2002 at 2.85 million cases, but have fallen continuously for the past 17 years. The figure this time was the lowest on record since the end of World War II.*

Violent crimes, on the other hand, saw an increase with 950 murders in 2019, up 35 cases from the previous year.]

This has become the reality of marriages nowadays. People cannot stay in marriage, go crazy after divorce and then this happens. Feel sad for both them.

May she rest in peace.

More violence against women in safety Japan. Seems pretty endemic at this point.

Ok, then @RiskyMosaic 7:40pm. Once again, appreciated your JapanTimes findings. - Can’t understand if you’re trying to condemn or defend this/that media for some of their periodic inconsistencies.

*@RiskyMosaic 4:59pm**: “Sorry, I just rechecked the article that I copy/pasted from and the wording has been changed to the same as it appears in this article. Weird.” *

Next, the “NPA” quote was not mine. Go to the source if you have a question for them.

Good then, @RiskyMosaic 8:30pm:“Yep, fair enough.”

Sincerest “Thanks” for that much-needed truth about this story @RiskyMosaic 4:59pm. It’s important to keep the preliminary ‘facts’ alive until the public has all the details:

*- @RiskyMosaic 4:55pm: “Reckless, The Japan Times describes it differently: [“A delivery man found the victim lying face-down with multiple stab wounds in her back and called for an ambulance at around 8:20 p.m.”*}

*- @RiskyMosaic 4:59pm: “Sorry, I just rechecked the article that I copy/pasted from and the wording has been changed to the same as it appears in this article. Weird.” *

It’s amazing how often such things happen with reporting and J media sources, eh?

I am pro police and military. We need them to protect us and they serve admirably.

Police did well with this case

Good Job NPA! As always.

Violence against women. When will Japan prioritize this issue?
