Drugs (like marijuana) are BAD, MKAY ?!

This is such a horrible story. This one brought me to the point of becoming almost physically ill when I read it the first time and here it is again. That poor child! Hearing about her notes is just heartbreaking.

The discovery prompted the government to convene a meeting in mid-June and decide to come up with urgent action in about a month to save children from child abuse.

And????? Sadly we are going to end up hearing another abusive story, resulting in the uneccessary death of a child, and the government will again make up some story to make themselves "feel" better that they are doing something and then will go back to looking for someone to blame instead of themselves.

The cycle will not break until the people who are running things are those who know how to effectively change the system. Meaning never!

I hope this guy spends the rest of his Natural Life rotting away in solitary confinement never being released from his cell with pictures of little Yuachan plastered all over the place just Out Of Reach

I hope they will not shift the narrative to being a drug problem !

I'm pretty sure they would try anything not to fix the child abuse issue (which would be the most difficult).

And and while you're at it play recordings of the notes she kept begging for forgiveness from this bastard in a continuous loop

The fact that he is referred to as the father makes me want to vomit

Who discovered it and why drugs exist?

As relevant as saying they found natto in his fridge but I wouldn't expect more enlightened reporting from a nation that views weed and heroin as equivalent dangers to society.

so angry!

Both of them should never be allowed to have children again.

I think the marijuana is the least of his problems.

That said, it's Japan so I could be wrong.

No. Drugs like heroin, meth, and cocaine are bad. (As are tobacco and alcohol.)

Natural herbal substances like marijuana are not only fine, but in many cases, have healthy benefits.

One would think a nation that gladly accepts and uses kampo (herbal remedies) as an alternative to synthesized chemical drugs for health and healing would understand this simple concept, especiaally since there is so much evidence to confirm it.

Well, that explains everything! The anti-drug propaganda will certainly exploit this story for their agenda.

I'm sure the Japanese media and police would like to use the MJ as the focus point of this horrid child abuse, but everyone I know who has used MJ are very calm and peaceful when on it. There is an urban myth about how MJ can cause psychosis in some people, which was disproven by the fact that, those who developed psychosis had mental and emotional issue before they used MJ.

This story made international news and created tears all over the world. It's a terribly sad scenario that, unfortunately, is repeated to often. Child abuse is on the increase in Japan and not just because more cases are being reported.

Am i the only one seeing that this new charge is coming up around 1 month since the original arrest? Its not about the drug, its just another reason to keep him for 28 days without access to a lawyer.

I dont care about marijuana legalization, it doesnt affect me (other than i believe the strains and products out there these days are about as 'natural' as bath salts). But i do care that this guy is kept behind bars. So in this case good on them for finding another reason to keep him locked up while they build the case.

It is so sad that parents could be so cruel to a child. I hope they are also starved in jail and beat by the other prisoners for the crimes they have committed against Yua. These two animals do not deserve any pleasures in life just PAIN and SUFFERING. ROT in jail then burn in Hell...

I agree with Redsuns 100 %. Dangerous, illegal drugs cause crimes, it is fact. Look at crime rate in USA. Keep this drug illegal and out of Japan.

Legalise them and the crime rate will go down. Take them out of control of organised crime.

With the high rate of elderly and children murdered at the hands of their own family members in Japan, such as the story above - you are quite far out on a limb to bring crime rates into this discussion. Marijuana is illegal in most parts of the US. So I'm not sure what you are hoping to prove.

Let's look at The Netherlands, where marijuana is tolerated. As you perhaps know, you can outwardly smoke it in cafes there. Have a look at the headline below in regards to crime rates in The Netherlands. And then accept the fact that your 'tunnel-visioned' argument against marijuana is completely debunked.

Then make marijuana legal. Problem solved. It's no longer illegal, and it was never dangerous.

Look at crime rate in USA.

Do you mean in states where marijuana has been made legal? I'd be happy to. The crime rate has gone down in those places, as has addiction to hard drugs.

He starved and assaulted his 5 year old daughter to death. Who cares if he's got a little pot. It absolutely doesn't matter. He killed his daughter.
