Police believe a woman in her 20s, who has been missing in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, since Feb 6, may have been the victim of foul play, after a male acquaintance attempted suicide.
According to Ishikawa police, the woman left her parents' home on Feb 6 at around 9 p.m., telling them she was going to meet a male acquaintance and would be back soon. When she failed to return home, her parents filed a missing persons report on Feb 7.
On Friday, police revealed that they had been questioning an NHK cameraman in connection with her disappearance. The man, who is in his 30s, claimed to have been acquainted with the missing woman for several years. Police said they interviewed the man informally a number of times until Thursday.
According to police, on Friday, the man returned to his parents' home in Kanazawa and attempted to commit suicide. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and is yet to regain consciousness.

What's missing from this article is the fact that this woman was already married and was having an affair with the NHK cameraman for the several years mentioned above.
Her car was found in a supermarket parking lot soon after her disappearance was reported, with her purse and cell phone inside. The police have suspected foul play from the beginning but have had little to go on. Now they have even less with their prime suspect in a coma.

NHK cameraman says "Hey, we're buds!" then goes home to try to kill himself. Guilty!!! Or the J-cops drove him nuts with their interrogation.

@lemur: Appreciate the additional information.

It could very well be that the woman killed herself, and the J-cops interrogation techniques pushed the NHK guy over the edge.

Could be the husband found out and wrung her neck as well. They guy (nhk) could have pulled a Romeo and Juliet.
