Actor Akira Shimizu’s son arrested for assaulting wife

Police in Tokyo have arrested the 32-year-old son of actor Akira Shimizu on suspicion of assaulting his wife.

According to police, Ryotaro Shimizu, an impressionist in the entertainment industry, slammed his wife’s head into a dining table at their home after a heated argument at around 6:45 p.m. on April 9, Fuji TV reported. The woman, who is in her 30s, suffered injuries to her neck that required a week to heal. She filed a complaint with police on April 12 and said she and her husband had been quarreling a lot recently.

Police said Shimizu has admitted partially to the charge. He was quoted as saying he grabbed his wife by the hair and slung her into a sofa, not a table.

Shimizu has been in trouble with the law twice before. In 2016, he was caught at an illegal gambling den and was arrested for illegal stimulant use in 2017.

Why does it matter this guy is the son of an actor? Oh, that’s right, so we know to expect a suspended sentence.

@P. Smith, it matter because the social media is gonna eat him alive. Celebrities scandals are a lot more juicy for people. If he was a nobody, then no one would care or bother to look at this news.

Perhaps the thug’s name should appear further up the article than his father’s...?

I disagree. Every day we read articles in this section and multiple people comment on those articles, but most of the accused are not the children of famous people.

Who and who? Who cares? If he's wife beating, throw him in the cells. Take his dad too while they're at it. It was probably because of his upbringing....or lack their of.

Real Men never attack women

Sigh, another one that only gets it HALF RIGHT!!!

Mark you ok with females attacking you or others I am not, they TOO must be called on & punished(which almost never happens by the way! Or its just mentioned in passing, then ignored)

@GW I would have thought women beating men up would be more newsworthy than the other way round. When it happens the media will juice it for all it's worth
