A consulting firm run by an acquaintance of Takahashi, 78, was paid a total of 26 million yen over three occasions by Daiko Advertising Inc, a mid-tier advertising company based in the western Japan city of Osaka,

So generous of Takahashi to include a "mid-tier" advertiser in on the corruption gravy train and not just the big boys like Dentsu.

The only way for these "advertisers" to get revenue from the government, or any "quasi" government entity, is to play the game, by the book.

Meaning they have to scratch the back of the people who are running things, if they want any work.

Prosecutors believe Takahashi, a former senior managing director of Japan's largest advertising agency, Dentsu Inc, held considerable sway over the organizing committee's marketing division.

Just waiting until Dentsu is also officially liked to the corruption in the headlines...

Did anything good come out of the Olympics?

If proved this man was rotten to the core, he should be stripped of his wealth. No need for prison. Being shamed and penniless would be punishment enough.

When is the pink elephant in the room going to be addressed: Dentsu?

Never. This is Japan.

Looking forward to see dozens of police investigators raid Dentsu's offices...but still not holding my breath.

Me neither. Pink elephants will fly before that happens

I honestly think Dentsu is untouchable in this country. It has strings attached to nearly every corner of Japanese society and no matter how many scandals arise, very little comes of them and they continue to get the big contracts time after time and carry on as normal.

Corruption in the Olympics? Why am I not surprised.

It’s kind of nuts how scandal after scandal continues to pop long after the event.

Those Aoki uniforms were quite odd choice and all of it makes sense now.

Say it ain’t so!

get ready for more suspended sentences and promises for transparency and internal investigations.

Did anything good come out of the Olympics?

Sure, they ended!

please wait, the police are still investigating Dentsu forcing its staff to work to death, which will probably take around another 15 years to make recommendations, then they can start this new Olympic related investigation.

I can take politicians who lie and cheat on their expenses and what have you. It's sadly to be expected and seen (by them) as perks of the position. I don't like it but what can we do?

What I can't accept and it makes me so angry is corruption. Anyone found to be taking bribes whilst holding office should be audited and booted from the job with only the clothes on their back.

I'm sure there will be more fresh warrants to come. I think we're just seeing just the tip of the iceberg crumble.

Meanwhile, the LDP's corruption with Unification Church will be hidden.
