Air Self-Defense Force officer suspended for filming up woman's skirt

A non-commissioned officer of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) has been suspended from duties for 20 days for filming up a woman's skirt, officials said Thursday.

According to a JASDF spokesman, the 42-year-old officer from Komaki Base in Aichi Prefecture, was filming with a video camera on an escalator in Nagoya Station on April 18 when he attempted to shoot up the skirt of the woman in front of him. He was confronted by a passerby and handed over to the police.

The incident follows the arrest in March of a 24-year-old JASDF member who was caught in a woman's public toilet in Tokyo.

Okay, is he an officer or enlisted? NCO is not an actual, hence non-commissioned. Or do you just not know the rank of the individual and thought this would be better.

for 20 days suspended, plenty of time to shoot now.

And I thought that the SDF were a professionally trained force to protect Japan. As the way it looks in this article, all that they seem to be trained for is to be a bunch of perverted people in a military uniform. This officer should be reprimanded and kicked out of the force. He should be fined at least 1 million yen and be sentenced to at least 3 years in prison for his actions.

You know, people in positions like that are human, but come on. If you're doing a job like that, you are culturally held to a higher standard, so don't you think your behavior should reflect that?! When run of the mill police officers do it, it's bad enough! Disgusting.

kokorocloud, I completely agree. Maybe he'll get fired and become a J-cop.

NCO is an enlisted officer of the armed forces. Their system is rather cut and dry - if you belong to the armed forces then the military government have the final say, not civilians - this includes the police. Saying this however, he is completely out of line and caught off campus. Therefore, he should be punished severely with a written report of failure to protect and serve and do confinement quarters, meaning depriving access to the public grounds from 120 days to whatever time alloted, and attend rehab training...it's like serving jailtime with nasty duties!! Unfortunately, the military government will review his profile, if he is a first offender but with spotless military record, chances are he might get what I mentioned and that is the end of it. To me...you do the the crime, you pay the time!!

A Japanese guy told me that the sdf, not being a true military organization, lacks a military code of justice, and issues with the sdf are resolved through civilian court. Not sure if it's true, but it would explain...

An abundant amount of short skirt women and perverted losers running around here. This will continue to happen as we speak.

If the guy had bought or rented a porno video that showed upskirts shots, that would be perfectly legal, lol.

IMHO his act was a matter of high level national security and the contents of the video should be viewed by the high ranking members of the JASDF.

Being a poorly paid member of the SDF, he probably couldn't afford to explore up the skirt of a regular prostitute.

They should be trained more professinally how to recon on the sly, like a ninja. Goodness knows there are enough exposed targets to practice on.

As I've read so many times on JT, people seem to think all Japanese are passive. Nice to see that a passerby stopped apprehended the culprit!

Knowing Japan, his career is now probably in the toilet. He's suspended for 20 days, but might be 'resigned' or at least find his chances of promotion are limited.

Isn't there a proverb 'Opportunity creates the thief'? In this case the thief is the person who, without permission, avails himself of some very personal details with the help of an electronic device of a woman who rides an escalator in attire which would be banned in an islamic country. This is not an islamic country, but still.

I guess they were doing reconnaissance.

A "Dishonorable"discharge is most certainly in order! He disgraces the uniform and his country!
