Chiba prefectural police said Monday that they have arrested an American man after he made his way onto a restricted area of the tarmac. According to police, the man was approached by a police officer and then struck him.
Police said the suspect, identified as Samuel Clarence Morgan, 48, said he had no recollection of the incident which occurred at around 8 a.m. Sunday, TV Asahi reported. Police said an airport employee who was driving a work vehicle on the tarmac noticed Morgan sneaking around.
Police said they are still questioning Morgan about what he was doing at the airport and how he got onto the tarmac.

sounds like he was on drugs.

Strange. Combination of alcohol and sleep deprivation perhaps. Was he transit passenger? A resident of Japan? A repeated apology about being "lost" might've worked if he hadn't struck the officer.

Probably thought he saw a maccas

His comment that he had "no recollection of the incident" at least indicates that he is versed in Japanese culture.

He just wanted a chance to try the "I was drunk and don't remember a thing" defense.

Surely he's completely innocent if he has no recollection of it.

He was drunk .. it must be fine

Thats bit scary if all you need to do to get past security and onto the tarmac is get drunk.

I did this at Frankfurt years ago. No malicious intent, I just got hopelessly lost and ended up, somehow, on the wrong side of the passenger/crew divide. It was scarily easy to do.
I didn't hit anyone, though... those German coppers have some mean-looking guns.

I wonder if got his alibi from reading JT...

Great, now they'll give my American passport a 2nd look the next time I hit the airport.

The article doesn't say anything about the man being under the influence of anything. However, hitting a police officer whether sober or drunk does not bode well for the man. HE may not remember, but the airport employee who first spotted him and the cop he hit sure will.

It was a UFO abduction! He was just thrown back and unfortunately at the wrong location. No wonder he had no recollection!

Why couldn't it be just a "foreigner" instead they have to say where the guy was from!! Big deal, I see Japanese go through the wrong exits all the time and trip alarms at LAX does it make headlines? Hell NO!

funny
Badge213
And do most of these Japanese who go through the wrong exit at LAX also punch Airport police officers when they are being questioned? HELL NO!
