Throw the has-been in jail for 7 yrs. should clean him out.  Japan needs to be strict to its laws no matter who the person may be.

throw him in jail, let him meditate about it.

Need to keep these dangerous drugs out of Japan. DJ Morales will surely be deported, and prevented from coming back for a few years . Just say "No" to drugs.

Authorities allegedly found five granules of MDMA -- weighing 0.3 grams -- in Morales' carry-on suitcase, according to the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

5 granules? Depending upon just how they were found, in one plastic bag? Scattered through the luggage? How? Inquiring minds would like to know!

I dont care who he is, or what is was famous for,but I agree with the strict drug laws when it comes to chemicals.

Grass isnt a drug!

Got to feel sorry for him. Those er... 5 granules were probably floating about in his bag since the 90’s.

15 ( +19 / -4 )

Waste of my tax dollars.

Grass isnt a drug!

How so?

Throw the has-been in jail for 7 yrs. should clean him out

7 years? Harsh. 7 months.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Best is just deport him and not allow him to return for a set period of time. It is not necessary to waste tax dollars on this

5 granuals? There's a mouse dance party somewhere in Japan that are at a loss of what to do.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

He worked with Madonna. Probably has a few copies of her album MDNA, which is either short for Macedonia or a sly mash up of her name and the club drug in this story.

Oh, man. I know this guy I've met him and talked with him here in Fukuoka, that's too bad musicians go to drug and all that reputation thrown away. He is a great DJ, hope he will repent for the cause he did and be back, sound and safe but first of all with healthy mind.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Deport the bum to a place far away from where he wants to be. Give him something to think about on his way home..

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Never understood the music/drug connection. Is it worth it? Music is good without drugs. If it isn't, then the problem isn't the drugs, it's the music.

the 56-year-old DJ denied the allegation, saying: "It's not mine. Someone might have tried to frame me".

Classic line straight from a Cheech and Chong movie. “Man, I was framed!”

A littke footnote: Paul McCartney was jail for 9 days, but the article fails to mention he was also banned from entering Japan for ten years.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Ecstasy my arse. If he took that amount all he'd get would be disappointment

6 ( +8 / -2 )

"Paul McCartney spent nine days in a Tokyo jail in 1980 after being caught at the airport with a bag of marijuana in his suitcase."

He got off easy. He could have got 5 years, lol.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Just cancel his shows and boot him out of the country. Guaranteed he is in an interrogation room as we speak to try and get him to admit that he packed the drugs himself.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'll say it every time, but Paul McCartney had seven ounces. A lot of people in Japan have got into trouble for fractions of a gram. He is a seriously lucky man.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Timeto legalise certain drugs - marijuana and ecstacy would be good for a start.

Obviously they will have to deport him, but no point in making a fuss over nothing - it is such a Japanese thing to do.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

deport now. dont worry about trumpy throwing a fit. It will be good for a laugh.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I'm curious, how did they find "0.3g" within a carry on ... suitcase ?

More-so, since where was he coming from, and why didn't they pick up that he had that amount of drugs upon him before leaving ?

300 milligrams seems to be rather a lot, though hardly an amount to be worthy of being classified as a Drug smuggler.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Lucky he's not in Philippines. . .

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Slow news day. immigration is probably just trying out their new drug sniffing robots that can detect .0000000000000010 traces of illegal pharmeceuticals in Japanese airspace.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Imagine you are framed for real ? Seems very easy for some tourists. It is a way to test the customs...

0.3 grams. What is that quantity ! No effect on any adult !

3 ( +4 / -1 )

0.3 grams that is 300mg ... lol, that should hardly be enough even a proper pill. 7 years for a pill, for a substance that should be legal anyway in a civilized country. Interesting commnents though. Not much libertarians in Japan it seems...

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Lol.

Have fun in Lock Up.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Sad that all the commenters assume he is guilty.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

MDMA is close to being legalized for a depression. Marijuana is now legal in Canada and half the USA. What many of you think of "dangerous drugs" is just archaic.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

" MDMA is close to being legalized for a depression. "

This is not the point...the point is that people continue to believe they can simply do whatever they want to

(import illegal substances or items) into a country with no consequences; WRONG.

If he want's to OD, that's HIS business....but do it somewhere ELSE...

& no; he's not about to OD on 5 granules either.

By the way "MDMA" WAS legal, and became ILLEGAL, if I'm not mistaken.

Treat him like Japanese celebrities are treated: slap on the wrist and a suspended sentence.

Along with a sincere apology for bringing shame upon themselves, their families, their fans, and the entirety of Japan.

Looks like DJ Morales is rather....

DJ Moral-less

We both forgot thf requisite deep bows.

If Mr. Morales is indeed guilty I hope this serves as a good lesson to him and others to research and respect the local laws and customs of the country you are visiting.

"It's not mine. Someone might have tried to frame me"

Tell it to the marines!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

No to drugs absolutely but lets not be stupid and sadistic about the penalties. This not a witch hunt and Japan is not a moral/human rights vacuum like Singapore who would most likely impose the death penalty for this transgression.
