Assistant professor arrested for filming up girl's skirt

Police in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, said Sunday they have arrested a 31-year-old university assistant professor for filming up a girl's skirt.

According to police, the suspect, Takao Matsumoto, used a small digital camera hidden in a bag to film up a 14-year-old girl's skirt in a book store in a shopping complex on Saturday at around 2:35 p.m., Sankei Shimbun reported. Matsumoto is an assistant professor at Fukuoka University's Faculty of Engineering.

A security guard told police he thought it was odd when he saw Matsumoto standing behind the girl with his bag in front of him. The security guard detained Matsumoto until police were notified.

I"I was drunk and don't remember a thing". Kudos to the security guard, hope he gets a promotion!. To the guilty party I say, WTF were you thinking, moron?

This one is a serail pervert. He has gone out of his way to buy a small camera and hide it in his bag. His punishment will be, losing his job and a suspended sentence, which is probably enough. However, he will not receive any counselling for his illness and, without a doubt, he will be back at it well before his sentence is finished. These guys need to learn that, playing with your thing is not a hobby!

Maybe he was working on his underwear graduate studies.

Another pervert...He should be put on a watch list of offenders!!Whats going to happen to him well not much..Really Japan come on you need to put harsher laws in place regarding offenses against minors get with the program!!!!

Matsumoto: I was curious what it looks like under a 14 year old girl's skirt. Police: I understand. You can go home now.

Imagination: I was curious what it looks like under a 14 year old girl's skirt. Police: I understand. You can go home now.

Reality: You can go home if you admit to doing it, and accept the punishment that goes along with it. Or you can deny it and spend three weeks in jail while we investigate.

Put him in a closed room with the girl's father.

@sensei: Japanese when arrested, either keep mouth shut or sppeakmwith Japanese The way you said is not going to be said by this professor. Try not to be arrested.

Idiot. Had everything going for him, and threw it all away for a quick thrill. Ruined his life, disgraced his family, disappointed his students and colleagues.

I'm not aware of there being any sort of sex offenders register here that's open to the public. Where would normal people live?

Put him in a closed room with the girl's father.

Then what are you hoping, exactly? That the father will beat him and break his bones? That he will kill him? The guy is sick, and has a compulsion that he can't stop acting on without help it seems. If it were my daughter, I would give him a good talking to, and see that he gets help - but I get the impression that's not quite violent enough for some here.

I might suggest violence if he were to ever come near my daughter again. But I don't see the point in escalating the reaction to what is not yet a violent act. I hope he gets help, and learns to control himself.

My friend experienced the same scenario in a book off store. The guy had placed a camera in ladies restroom. She caught him when he came to check whether or not the camera was in the right angle. The tribunal hasn't sorted the case yet nearly 2 years. Police found more than 30000 pictures and videos in many chips and flash discs and they are looking to identify each victim. It might take decades. Beware of public restrooms.

.....And some posters still agree that the sexual exploitation of young girls and the teenybob Lolita music have NOTHING to do with this behavior. (sheesh-)

Thing is am not sure it's the case, and that's imo the main problem in Japan, the trivialisation of such acts. There is almost an element of 'boys will be boys' when such cases are reported and i dont think many people truly realise the seriousness of such acts, the age of the victim, the premeditation etc. Pretty sure some ppl at work, in his family, his gf, mates etc will find him excuses and think a slap on the wrist is a big enough punishment and come up with 'he didnt hurt anyone' bs.

I think this has something to do with the sick sexualization of little kids in this country. As a user pointed out previously on an another article, they actually have a magazine that features underaged children in panties....available for everyone's convience at 7/11, Lawson, Daily Yamazaki etc.

They (the government) needs to get to the root of the problem and ban any sexually suggestive content directed at children.... Sadly Japan has a huge crowd of fans... Most likely even in the government that enjoys good old underaged softcore.

As for this professor, he should be banned from being in the education field for the rest of his working life, be forced to register as a sexual offender, as well as do time (maybe 2 years with a rehabilitation program).

@Cortes Elijah never seen that, maybe in manga though.

never seen that, maybe in manga though.

There are phenomena phenomena that exists, even if you have not seen. Calling something into doubt based only on your limited personal sensory experience is nothing more than a red herring. Keep enjoying those manga though.

At Village Vanguard they have a series of books dedicated to upskirt photos and the women in the pictures are often times in a school girl uniform... I know there is a lot of weird stuff at this store but I can't except any explanation for this being okay.

Sunday they have arrested a 31-year-old university assistant professor for filming up a girl’s skirt. should this read FORMER assistant professor ???? As I have said on here in the past is it not time that Japan had a "sex offenders register" like we do in the UK please read this link..http://www.inbrief.co.uk/offences/the-sex-offenders-register.htm

@Brian Wheway

I agree there should be a public sex offenders register here in Japan. Currently, there seems to not be enough stigma attached to being a pedophillic perv ... in fact often times the opposite. Just look at any crowd in Akihabara when there's a tween girl street concert going on. They celebrate and encourage each other.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

He has a handsome face, brilliant career in electronic engineering, and was a martial artist (Taekwondo) winning prices for both his research and his fighting skills. I guess he became rather over-confident, and now this.

I hope that the victim is not traumatised.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

The university assistant professor now would not only lose his job but would cause his family and others so much trouble. Did he think he wouldn't get arrested for only filming up the girl's skirt? Kudos to the security guard.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's just panties; she should show it to him

Matsumoto standing behind the girl with his bag in front of him...

Well done to the security guard for reporting it!!

Commanteer, you obviously have no daughters. It's sad that you would rather give him a doctor instead of stand up for your own daughter's honor.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I have a daughter, and I agree with Comanteer.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

"I have a daughter, and I agree with Comanteer"

And you also agree that kiddie-porn, child-rape manga is perfectly acceptable. I reported your comments.

Just make sure you don't get locked in a room with a real father!!

Please arrest me because:

for me, it is a small offense - he did not touch, annoyed, put on line any content...(if I see panties by chance with my eyes, do I have to put them out then lol?) at 14, nearly all Japanese girls are fully grown and shaped body. Kids by law, not biologically I have girls and I would say it is their fault if they dress in such a way and bend in such a way that it becomes obvious that one could see their panties and so attract men's eyes (By the way, in Europe nor America, no girls nor women ever duck this way- problem solved) men seek women not only for contemplation only you know... Natural behaviour. Eyes (or camera) only because we are civilized. Being so prudish does not help Japanese demography... Whip me if you want but I am about 99% sure I respect ladies more than most of you.

But when you have to design pervert proof uniforms for your school children to wear, there is something seriously wrong with Japanese society. In Japan, almost all high schools require uniforms. As cute as skirts are, I don't see why more schools don't make slacks an option. As a matter of equality, a good solution would be to let girls choose to wear either kilt or slacks at their option.

^ It wouldn't change anything. Japanese high school girls are happy to wear those uniforms for "fashion" and being the center of attention. I have university friends who still go to Disneyland wearing their high school uniforms. Plus I have already talked about this issue to Japanese girls and they told me they never thought about sexualization of their uniforms. It is too deeply ingrained in their culture they don't even see the problem.

Point is give them choice. Not all high school girls wants to wear short skirts everyday. Even in the rain or snow, they have to wear the mini? Might be warmer wearing slacks.

Commanteer, you obviously have no daughters. It's sad that you would rather give him a doctor instead of stand up for your own daughter's honor.

But I do, and so far I have kept the nasties of this world away. I have no idea what you refer to by "honor" in this context. Every time I hear that word it seems to be associated with honor killings - where the father actually feels it was his honor that was violated, as his daughters are his property.

Violence is a last resort, not a first resort. I raise my kids to be decent human beings with self-respect that can't be taken away by a perv with a camera. Addressing a non-violent offence with a violent response is rarely the right way to go.

I wrote a message on here last time something like this cropped up, and I commented on that girls should ware slightly longer skirts, ( this didn't go down to well) this would help stop mainly men on escalators peeping or filming up girls skirts. but either way no person should be filming or taking pictures of girls knickers full stop!

Because they have been GROOMED by society from an early age but do not realize just how DEADLY DANGEROUS it is. And that is what this assistant-professor guy is playing for. He is looking for a FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl who not only does not complain, but who takes it as a compliment... and is happy to pose for more intimate photos.

In your dreams, paedo!!

Question: Why is it that people only claim to have a drug problem, sexual problem, drinking problem and so on only AFTER they are caught and destroy an innocent person's life. If he honestly thinks he has a mental problem then he should have gotten help before someone's daughter was violated. In addition, drug and alcohol rehabilitation does not bring back a dead relative. I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for these people. If you think you have a mental problem, GET HELP BEFORE you destroy another person's life. Plan and simple!!!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Because they have been GROOMED by society from an early age but do not realize just how DEADLY DANGEROUS it is.

What a ridiculous claim. 100s of thousands (maybe even millions?) of girls go to school in their uniforms every single day, and almost never of them die.

Have you been GROOMED by society form an early age to not realize just how DEADLY DANGEROUS walking down the road is? Because you're probably more likely to get hit by a car while doing so, than a school girl is to get killed for wearing her uniform.

that is what this assistant-professor guy is playing for. He is looking for a FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl who not only does not complain, but who takes it as a compliment... and is happy to pose for more intimate photos.

Then why would he be trying to hide the camera? If your claim were true, I imagine his approach to this would be very different - can't get someone to pose for 'more' photos, when they don't even know you are taking them in the first place.
