A 26-year-old man who has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old member of underground idol group Tenshi Tsukinukeni Yomi has told police he found out the singer’s address by zeroing in on the image of a train station reflected in her eyes in a selfie she posted online, and then used Google Street View to identify the station.

Police said the suspect, Hibiki Sato, who lives in Saitama City, but has no fixed occupation, then waited at the station on the night of the group's concert until he saw the singer, Ena Matsuoka, arrive at around 11 p.m. on Sept 1, Sankei Shimbun reported. He followed Matsuoka to her apartment and as she passed through the door-lock entrance, he rushed in behind her, placed a towel over her head, dragged her to the ground where he groped her, police said.

Sato was arrested on Sept 17 and indicted on Tuesday this week. After his indictment, Tenshi Tsukinukeni Yomi revealed the incident on its Twitter account.

These are the types of things you only see in spy movies. Sad to hear she had to go through such a horrible event.

Another casualty in the idol world, not that it'll lead to any changes.

The weird world of Otakus. Luckily, most of them are not violent.

What a waste of real talent, he could have used his knowledge for constructive purposes.

I am wondering : why does the police said "groped" instead of "sexually assaulted". It kind of let me a bad after taste.

Is "groped" really what is called according to law ?

I mean for year, we saw victim being shamed for being raped. As if they were some kind of dirty thing.

Or sexual assault being dismissed as not so much of a big deal (the average : "it is like being bitten by a dog").

So that kind of itch, I am willing to believe than no bad under-taste exist. It is just, reading it kind of itch.

This may be something many would not like to realize, but it just goes to show how easy it is to get stalked. Just consider the fact that the guy most likely doesn't have any specialized training and managed to exploit that tiny detail and did the crime. Just let this be a reminder to maintain your operational security.

Such investigative skills. He should have put them to use with the Kōanchōsa-chō.

If he would use his perverted creativity to do good, I'm sure he'd have a stable job.

That's some James Bond stuff right there man.

Just out of curiosity: How did they find him 17 days later?

Is "groped" really what is called according to law ?

No, and I guarantee it's not the word the police used; remember, this is Japan. Everything here is Japanese. And news articles on this site are notorious for being translated with the flavor of the translator.

I didn't stumble over the police report but in Japanese news I read 触る which pretty much translates as groping, but the actual accusation, also mentioned in the news is 強制わいせつ致傷, which basically means sexual assault and injury. Hm, actually the JT article states that as well.

First sentence of the article:

A 26-year-old man who has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old

Sexual assault is what he is charged with, groping is the physical act that he did to the woman. Both were mentioned in the article. 'Sexual assault' covers a lot of different things, they are just specifying what he did.

Nasty man.

I read the title and was going to say "Somebody give that man a job!", but then I read the story and was like "..............throw him in jail first!"

Sounds like he would make a GREAT detective in the Japanese Police Department. He can find out where people live easily and take full advantage in harassing women.

That's what it seems they are best at, based off of the articles here.

The dude is a nut - I agree with that

Interesting finding something out in that manner (reflection in the eye). I would have not imagined that.

Flute:

Grope may also be a euphemism as the s word could shock. Also, not sure, but believe in japan for it to be labelled rpe, he's gotta put something in.

To me, grope sounds more like the American "felt up," like what kids do at parties (feeling each other but not doing the deed).

 but has no fixed occupation

Surprise, surprise!

Real men do not .... grope.

Wait a minute like most out there, this feature was highly publicized as great, cool, by the mass media.
