Police in Tokyo have arrested a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of fraud after she invited a man she met on a dating app to a “rip-off bar” in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district and plied him with alcohol.

According to police, Kaname Hata, a vocational school student whose address is unknown, Hata conspired with a friend last month to lure the man, who is in his 20s, to the Grand H bar, which has no permit to operate, in the red-light district in Shinjuku, Kyodo News reported. Police said Hata met the man on a dating app and failed to disclose she was an employee of the bar they were heading to.

The man said Hata told him they were going to a darts bar she always frequented. Hata reportedly ordered a large amount of alcohol, leaving the unsuspecting man with a bill amounting to 400,000 yen. The man filed a complaint with police.

Police said they have been consulted four times this year with similar complaints about the same bar where Hata is employed.

Some extra information from Japanese News sites for those interested: They woman suggested they play a game where the loser takes a shot. They reportedly drank around 100 shots. The barman then informed the victim it was not an "all you can drink" bar and presented him with the 400,000 yen bill. When the victim protested, he was a assaulted. He later reported the crime to a "police box".

Women. You can't drink with them and you can't drink without...wait. Maybe once in a while you should drink without them, or as in this case, without this one of them.

I mean typical bills at the kabukicho bars are actually higher than that, I dont really think that this is much of a case.

This guy clearly don't understand the price system.

If 400,000 is a case, then what about host clubs that typically runs 4,000,000 ~ 10,000,000 bills?

100 shots? Surely you can tell after 10 that they are just water and food coloring?

Bad luck for the guy but he clearly has 0 common sense. Hopefully he can learn a lot from this experience.

Notice when it's a guy nobody rushes to his defense and admonishes not to victim blame? lol

Err what? 100 shots between the two of them, or was he inviting the whole bar?

Anyway, it is clearly a ripoff joint.

I do not know how you define "typical" and how often you visit host clubs, but according to female friend of mine who went to a couple out of curiosity, the first visit is really cheap. The thing becomes expensive once the women get attached to a host and start promoting them by by buying Domperry pyramids and similar nonsense.

Is this gal 'majime' or just 'biz dev'!?!

They should arrest the bar-owner guy who was running her first and foremost. Too often the slaves take the rap.

Have you ever heard the term "don't blame the victim"?
