The bodies of a 52-year-old man and his five-year-old daughter were found at a dam in Shimokitayama village, Nara Prefecture, on Monday, in what police suspect was a murder-suicide.
According to police, the bodies were found at around 10 a.m. beneath Zenki Bridge on National Route 169, which spans the dam, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police plan to conduct autopsies to determine the cause of death.
Police said the two were a father and his daughter from Naniwa Ward, Osaka City.
According to the police, a missing persons report was filed by family members of Saturday. On Sunday, the father called a child consultation center in Osaka Prefecture, saying, "I want to die, so I want to leave my child with you.” He hung up before the staff could get more details.
Police said a rental car was parked near the bridge. The man was floating 20 meters below on the lake surface and his daughter was lying on a concrete foundation under the bridge about 15 meters below.

In cases like this, the parents think they "own " the child.

Parents do essentially “own” their children. That’s why it’s so scary that any mentally unhinged psychopath who can’t even take care of themselves can procreate.

The couple should never have been together in the first place. The child was collateral damage, the universe saying actions have consequences.

How awful. Kids at five years old are so cute and adorable. I couldn't even imagine inflicting any pain on my kids at that age. Just wishing them a happy life.

Please clarify. Is the daughter suspected of murdering her father before committing suicide? It;s doubtful, but really unclear the way this was reported.

There is absolutely nothing unclear with the way this is reported, no clarification is needed for anybody with even a small amount of common sense.

Selfish. You want to swan dive off the dam, please go for it. No reason to bring your child with you.
