Kanagawa prefectural police said Thursday that a body found in the Sagami River in Hiratsuka is that of a missing 26-year-old woman.
The body, wrapped in a vinyl sheet and blanket, was found floating in the river on Wednesday, TBS reported. A woman who saw the story on the TV news late Wednesday called police to say that the victim might be her friend Ayama Yoshida, of Atsugi, who disappeared on Oct 27.
A positive identification was made later by Yoshida's family, police said, adding that the victim had been beaten about the head several times.
Yoshida's mother reported her missing on Oct 31.

Another apparently senseless killing, such a great shame. Thoughts must go to her family and friends.

Another young woman falls victim to 'safety Japan'. I hope the killer is found soon and the circumstances of her death are uncovered.
