Police said Friday that the body of a 52-year-old man was recovered from a car that was driven into the sea from a wharf in Kobe's Chuo Ward at around 12:20 a.m. Thursday. The man, who has been named as Akihiro So, was confirmed dead at the scene, police said.
According to police, So, a Chinese national who had been living in Yao, Osaka, had a bullet wound to his abdomen, bruises on his face consistent with having been punched and several broken ribs, NTV reported. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was drowning.
Eyewitnesses say that a man in a balaclava was seen leaving the driver's seat shortly before the car plunged into the ocean. He then reportedly got into a white car being driven by another man and fled the scene.

a bullet wound, broken ribs, and had been punched around a lot ... but he died from DROWNING?! He was alive when he went into the water?
Very creepy indeed ... and it doesn't smell like Yakuza at ALL, resurfaced (oh the irony of your name while commenting on this article!)
If it was Yakuza, the body would never have been found ...
