The body of a newborn baby boy was found in a trash can in a hotel in Osaka, on Thursday, police said.

According to police, a hotel cleaning employee found the infant in a trash can near an elevator on the seventh floor of the hotel in Chuo Ward at around 10:30 a.m., Kyodo News reported. The baby, with its umbilical cord still attached and wrapped in a towel, was inside a plastic bag.

The baby was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead, police said.

The Government should do something about the 'unwanted ' babies as accidents do happen during intercourse or a young women may be held with a newborn with the dad nowhere to be seen.

No baby should be left to die.

In N. America, women, are given many options and a big one is private adoption and where the adopting family pays for all the expenses of the pregnant mother until birth. If Japanese women were given this same option, I believe there would be way less of these stories.

This option does indeed exist in Japan, and is being taken up more and more frequently. And there's a growing number of couples lining up to adopt these babies. The main problem is that large numbers of young women carrying babies, that for one reason or another won't be able to raise them, simply don't know that there are public and private agencies available to arrange adoptions. Awareness is growing, but it's taking a long time.

These creatures killing their babies and throwing in the rubbish bins aren’t really human beings. For some reason, their shape is in human form, nature’s mistakes.

You have no idea what it was like for the woman who did this so you're not really in a position to judge.

Again?!?

This has become weekly news!

How can a person lack all the empathy and love for her own flesh and blood baby!?!

There is absolutely no excuse, none, not one so ever, to kill your own inocent and pure baby.

From your position, it's very easy to say that.

Can you imagine being that staff member and discovering that?

So, this person didn't just drop it on the floor, and leave, she packed it neatly (maybe while it was still alive) into a plastic bag, then a towel, and dumped it in a trash bin, where it would be found.

There is a disproportionate number of 'lynch-mob ' mentality comments here.

It is complete and utter disrespect for human life,

and this so called "lynch mob" are stating that fact.

This person was conscious of neatly disposing of her infant boy,

that lived inside her and she gave birth to, with a coldness and detachment

that is inhuman.

The only thought she gave to this infant,

was how to dispose of it.

This is murder.

If it is determined that the baby boy was born alive and not a stillbirth then this is a murder charge.

Shame there aren't more baby hatches, and more anonymity for the people thinking of using them.

There needs to be more dissemination and options given to women who are pregnant and don't want to keep a baby. The big thing in Japan for women is the Koseki, when a name is placed on their Koseki it is forever there is no deleting it and that goes for a man, too.

In N. America, women, are given many options and a big one is private adoption and where the adopting family pays for all the expenses of the pregnant mother until birth. If Japanese women were given this same option, I believe there would be way less of these stories.

Not judging, understanding the culture and finding solutions is the only way to stop these senseless deaths.

I don't think anyone does this lightly, and to think they do only shows your own lack of empathy.

Maybe, just maybe, the mothers are frightened kids who have had no support from family or social services.

There is much more to these stories than dead kid, bad mother, shallow moral high horse comments on internet forums.

Fly high, poor little baby. He deserved so much better than being treated as mere trash.

May this unforgiveable act haunt the perpetrator - night and day - for the rest of their days. Evil truly does walk among us, I'm afraid.

Throw your baby in the trash and run away. Life is cheap.
