Police in Kobe are investigating the death of a 43-year-old woman whose body was found outside her apartment building on Sunday.

According to police, a passerby called 110 at around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday and reported that a woman in her underwear was lying on the ground in the parking lot beside her two-storey apartment building in Nishi Ward, Fuji TV reported. The woman was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police identified her as Yuka Kataoka, who lived in an apartment on the first floor of the building. They said her body had cuts and abrasions to her feet, arms and waist, but no other external injuries, and that she had been dead for less than a day.

Poor woman. Whatever happened to her, I hope her suffering was minimal. I hope people remember how she lived, not just how she died.*

(A nod to that film about Bruce Lee).

Imagine, as a foreigner you spotted a dead body on the way in Japan, would you guys dare call the police overlooking the sheer possibility of storm of questions and end up being a suspect?

fondofji, very good question. Right now I think I'd rather inform a Japanese acquaintance to make the call for me. Or if that's not possible, make an anonymous call from a pay phone alerting the police of the situation. I don't feel comfortable ignoring it but at the same time I don't want to deal with the police.

My sympathy and condolences. I love Kobe and my wife and daughter live in Kobe. Strange, it's a very safe place to live.

If you easily spotted it, then someone else will too. Walk away if you are not a Japanese national.

That's a very strange Post Mortem.

I personally wouldn't. no.
