Body parts found floating in Tokyo Bay

A man's head and part of a foot were found floating 20-30 meters off the coast in Tokyo Bay on Thursday by a fisherman in Yokohama's Kanazawa Ward, police said Friday.

On Wednesday, the buttock and left thigh of a man were also discovered nearby, and police believe the body parts likely belong to the same person. Investigators are currently working to identify the body and carrying out an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

According to police, no clothing or personal affects were found with the body parts, and several weeks appear to have passed since the man was killed.

I was just to about enjoy my home-cooked seafood dinner when I opened up my news page to this story. How can something like this happen in Japan? You'd think this only occurs in Iraq or drug fighting areas of Mexico. Now this is why I don't go swimming around the Tokyo waters...

I sure am, and I get paid to correct this kind of garbage as well as undo the damage caused by semi-litterate "English" teachers. It matters, if you care about the language.

it seems that you believe the propaganda that the whole of japan is a disneyland-esque paradise of smiley happy cartoon characters who would never think about breaking out a frown, let alone dismembering a debtor or gangland rival and dumping the body parts in a sewer

which is probably what has happened here

That's "semi-literate" kanada, not "semi-litterate". I care, too.

"and police believe the body parts likely belong to the same person".

Oh, reeaally, Mr. Policeman, whodve thunk it. More outstanding work by your local constabulary.

off the coast is fine. Might not be the common usage but its not wrong. Cops need to pull all the evidence together to get to the bottom of this.

As a native English speaker the poster is correct, with a distance of some 60-90 feet from the shore, it's absurd to say "of the coast" which is used for distances measured in miles/Km. To say "coast" in this case is wrong, period.

Well spotted. Apparently, my Jamaican rum does not share our concerns.

What????

No wonder recent homicides in Japan sound more creepy than ever before.

@donna;" What a coincendence! Just the week body parts were found in water near to where I work. It is all very sad." Where do you work in japan?

it is best for japanese leaders to stop trumpeting that japan is a safety country.

"... homicides in Japan sound more creepy than ever before."

homicides in japan always have been creepy.

jonnyboy - No I don't believe all that propaganda but it is definitely less worse in Japan.

Damn those illegal Asian immigrants! They'll do anything to get into Japan - even float themselves over in construction kit form! (Don't laugh - there's probably a Japanese government department being set up to investigate this possibility even as I type.)

What? No personal effects were found with half a buttock?

I read a book by a japanese author about something like that. Its called OUT. Its a good book. (in the book a battered wife stragles her huband and she's blackmailed by her freinds after they cut up his body for her. Its awesome)
