Body without head, limbs found in Okinawa field

The body of a man was found in fields in Okinawa on Saturday, and police revealed Sunday that the man had been decapitated, and had both his hands and legs cut off.

Police said the man’s body was found wrapped in numerous black translucent bags buried in the earth in a field in the town of Ogi, near a small road used mainly by nearby residents.

Police believe the body may have been there for as long as two weeks, after speaking with the owner of the field who told police he and his wife noticed an empty hole dug in the earth near a path about two weeks ago. The owner and his wife told police they thought the one-meter deep empty hole was strange, but filled it up. They found a shovel in the area about a week later, and on Friday found two empty suitcases, and called police.

Seems like the Yakuza is hard at work on Okinawa! Sloppy job though, must have been done by "temp yaks".

Sorry Yaks are too lazy they would have dumped the body at a construction site. Sounds more like this was premeditated and the poor guy was a little large for the suitcase.

Sounds like foul play involved.

not surprising in the land of extreme.

Japan has quite a history for dismemberment murders especially over recent years. I wouldn't be surprised who might have done, could have been anyone.

a crime of hate of a loved one.

I wonder if the farmers saw anything in that hole before they filled it up.

I think the word the author was looking for here is 'torso'.

So who on Japan's most wanted list might be vacationing in Okinawa? First thought was Ichihashi but if I remember correctly that's not his M.O. is it?

DXXJP: A suitcase? Jeez, where were they planning on taking the body, Tahiti?

Usually when someone knows the victim they will try and make it difficult to identify the remains. Identify the remains you find the usual suspects. Also with it being found so easily it sounds like it wasn't premeditated, the entire thing could have been accidental or a as someone mention a crime of passion or rage. Premeditated killers would have use something more reliable then luggage. If it was on a nearby road used mostly by locals, it's probably someone visiting they would consider it remote. A local would considered it a well frequented area and would have chosen a more remote or wooded area to dispose of the body. Most of the time a body of water is the first place of choice, so this person probably didn't have time to go the distance without someone realizing they were gone. Most likely the killer doesn't live too far maybe a few neighboring towns away. He would want to keep his eyes on the burial site, it's too tempting not to because of the fear of it being found and the fear of getting caught. If they find out who the victim is and with tattoo's, piercings, birthmarks and scars, you're bound to miss removing all identifying markers especially if the decease has a criminal record.

It will be interesting to see if we and when we get an update on this one.

shreeree - I actually doubt there will be much of an update on this one (that is of course, unless anyone with SOFA status was seen within 20km of the place). It's the type of thing that usually generates interest one day and then is never spoken about again as it might make people think they don't live in a little safe bubble in Japan.

I’m wondering if this killer came from Cambodia. They used to cut off heads and use them for bowling on the green grass. The accused when apprehended should have his head examined and if he is normal, than hang him quick. ‘HEAD FOR HEAD NECK FOR NECK.’

Soldave - quite the opposite in my opinion - Japanese media tend to make such a fuss about crime these days that it scaremongers people into thinking Japan is more dangerous than it actually is. If you see no updates in the news it'll most likely be because there won't be anything to update (i.e. no clues or developments).
