Bogus delivery man kills man in Tokyo apartment

A man disguised as a courier strangled to death a 52-year-old man at his apartment in Tokyo on Saturday night, police said Sunday. The suspect managed to flee the scene and is currently at large.

According to police, at around 8 p.m. on Saturday, a woman called 119, reporting that a stranger had entered her apartment in Taito Ward’s Kita-Ueno district and that her ex-husband was unconscious. When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman's ex-husband, Masaru Sudo, slumped on a sofa, unconscious, Fuji TV reported. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

There is an auto lock at the entrance to the building. However, the suspect – dressed as a delivery man – buzzed the 7th-floor apartment, spoke to Sudo’s former wife, 54, and said he had a delivery to make, so she let him in at around 7:20 p.m. When she opened the door, he shoved past her and, upon finding Sudo asleep on the sofa, used a belt to strangle him. He also beat and kicked Sudo’s ex-wife. When she regained consciousness about 40 minutes later, she called 119.

The suspect is believed to be in his 40s, was dressed in blue clothing from head to toe, and was wearing both a hooded sweater and mask to conceal his identity at the time of the attack. Surveillance camera footage showed him leaving the building at 7:50 p.m.

This sounds like recent Korean movies Door Lock, The Witness & The Vanished

All with an unpredictable twist.

When I divorced my first wife we still lived together for about two years and the pressure of being married was gone and the SEX after our divorce was FANTASTIC. I recommend it to one and all. Maybe they still lived together many couples do after a divorce now why he was killed one can only wonder.

Dodgy with a capital D

I'm suspicious of the ex-wife here, and I began to have that feeling after reading only the first two paragraphs of this article.

There must be more to the story than we are told here. Surely this was not completely random?

Since we only have a few sentences of information, all we can do is speculate. Let's keep doing it!

Sure. Red flag one is her being the "ex" wife. Could be some issues that his death would resolve. Red flag 2 was her convenient unconsciousness for 40 minutes, yet with no mention of serious injury. Gives her plenty of time to set things up. Red flag 3 is that the guy didn't kill or seriously injure her as well. Why not? She was a witness. Which leads us to red flag 4, what was she doing while witnessing him strangle her ex-husband? I takes time to properly strangle someone, and would be very difficult if a third person was trying to stop it. Red flag 4, why strangling? There are many faster and easier ways to kill someone. Strangling is very personal. And most victims will fight back mightily - unless they have been drugged beforehand ("asleep on the sofa").

DNA will solve. Love triangle, debt? Just another sad story. One dead, one beaten and one in prison.

Love triangle gone bad. I guess he wanted to eliminate the competition, or she convinced him he should.

I'm getting a strong whiff of sakana on the stove. I know who my prime suspect would be but that's just me. Maybe she bowed and smiled a lot and the cops might think she is utterly incapable of planning something so out of character for such a nice and pleasant woman. We'll see. In the meantime, I have to be careful going to the door when the delivery person shows up from now on!

I think somebody was in debt to the wrong people & they caught up with him.

So... y'all think the wife paid somebody to off her hubby?

Shady.

Something straight out of Unsolved Mysteries or Forensic Files.

I am just waiting for the rest of the story to unfold in the coming days.

But, as the saying goes, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it is probably a duck.

So was there any reported stolen? He should have taken something, I mean not unless he was there just to kill the guy.

Exactly. The perpetrator killed the man before beating the wife, which we know because the wife described the killing.

What was the wife doing whilst the ex-husband was being strangled? Was shesimoky in too much shock to react?

Since we only have a few sentences of information, all we can do is speculate. Let's keep doing it!

I agree with buffalo. Too many glaring questions.

Things that make you say hmmm.

What will they find after digging into this?

It was targeted and obviously well planned. The departed was at his ex-wife's apartment. The ex-wife wasn't killed.

Let's all start speculating!

Sounds fishy
