Bogus electrician arrested over sexual assault of teenage girl

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl after he tricked her into letting him into her apartment by posing as an electrician.

According to police, Naoki Kanome, who works for a company affiliated with an electricity utility, followed the girl to her apartment in Shibuya Ward in January, Fuji TV reported. He then pressed the door buzzer and identified himself as an electrician. Once inside, police said Kanome sexually assaulted the girl and then forced her to wash her uniform in an attempt to remove any evidence of the assault.

Police said Kanome, who was identified through building surveillance camera footage, has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying he assaulted the girl because he was stressed out from his job

Standard practice when stressed out. Rape someone, burn something... Or better yet, kill your babies.

Prohlem solved.

This excuse I read to often.

I wonder if this is getting japanized?

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Japanese reports call her a "senior high school girl", a minor. I say this because when reporting sexual violence, Japanese reports usually use the word "teenager" to signify non-minors, women of 18 and 19. All rapes are bad but raping a minor is especially bad.

Full marks to the girl for reporting it and I hope she can get the help she needs.

I hope the young lady is able to make a full and quick recovery.

From rape? Physically, maybe. Psychologically, highly unlikely.

As for the punk that did this, castration and extended jail time. That should relieve both his work stress and his sexual drive stress.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Exactly, psychologically scarred for life.

And people still reluctant to confront the role of porn in these types of crimes.

But is this guy gonna face any consequences? Or are we gonna see the news in a few months that prosecutors decided not to file charges in a few months as with the vast majority of rape cases here. Even in cases that is prosecuted, these ppl rarely get anything more than a suspended sentence. This guy almost certainly will become a repeat offender as he will find out that he will face little to no consequences for rape in Japan. I would challenge anyone to find a rape case in Japan where the rapist actually faced any sort of severe sentence.

The guy thought to make her wash the uniform, but didn't think there might be cameras. Props to the girl for reporting this fool.

Man should get at least eight ("80") years in prison with no chance of parole. I thought Japan along with other East Asian Countrries (viz, Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan) are among the safest if not safest areas in the world where someone regardless of who they are can walk around without worries about becoming a victim of street crime????????????????????

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Stressed, drunk, wasn't aware it was illegal or not remembering things are so common excuses in here. Why they don't just shut up, instead of releasing such lame excuse for such crime? They hope they'll get suspended sentence?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

These a-holes seem to think that being stressed out, gives them permission to do anything...

" I thought Japan along with other East Asian Countrries (viz, Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan) are among the safest if not safest areas in the world "

For men, maybe, but definitely not for women.

I have multiple friends who have been raped in Japan, often when they were in middle school. A lot of sick perverts target middle school girls in Japan, because at that age they did not have sufficient education, and did not understand what had happened. Of course, none of my friends' rapists had been punished.

One of my friends was recently permanently locked away under medical protection hospitalization in a mental hospital due to trauma, and she may never get out for rest of her life. Please look up 医療保護入院 and how there's close to 200,000 in that system where it is almost impossible for anyone to get them out. They are not allowed any contact with the outside world, not even letters. Japanese government, instead of punishing the rapists, locks up the victims for life to keep them silent.

@Baroque1888

Among the safest doesn't mean crimes don't happen, the rate is just lower. The safety is one of the big reasons I chose to live here so many years ago. Sadly I don't think anywhere is perfectly safe and that means jack-all to anyone who was a victim. It's never going to feel safe to them again, and that is tragic.

This guys is just plain dumb if he thinks he's going to get away clean from doing such a heinous crime. If he's in Tokyo, he should visit a certain district that has everything that he needs to blow that pent up energy away. This made me wonder if people even ask for identification before letting people in first because I certainly would.

No, he did it because he knows he will get away with it, or at most a very light sentence. If you have been following news in Japan, you will know that the vast majority of rape cases never get prosecuted, and of those that do, only gets a suspended sentence and a small fine at most. That is true even for repeat offenders, remember that keio guy? 6 rapes and never a day in prison. I would bet a million yen that this guy will not get more than a year in prison even if he get prosecuted (unlikely based on recent trends)

Shocking.

That’s funny?

Recently we have had cases of bogus delivery drivers, bogus policemen and now bogus electricians. Bogus workers are the worst!

And people still reluctant to confront the role of porn in these types of crimes.

Perhaps because there is no conclusive link between sex crimes and porn:

https://open.lib.umn.edu/sociology/chapter/11-4-violence-against-women-rape-and-pornography/

You can wait for the horses to come home before anyone finds clinical "conclusive" proof.

In the meantime generations of women and girls (in some extreme cases even babies) will be victimized by men raised on porn (they often record their assaults and post/share on sites).

@blahblah222 - Oh yeah, true. It really makes me wonder that in a country that has insanely draconian punishments for super petty crimes (remember the guy who used the wrong coffee cup when getting his drink from the konbini, or the city government employee who got in trouble for punching out a minute earlier to catch the bus?), but are pretty lenient when it comes to crimes like these. Truly baffling.

but are pretty lenient

Not just lenient, it is as if they do not want to punish rape.

Rape in Japan is technically illegal but de facto legal. Can you really say something is illegal if there’s almost zero consequences for the vast majority of cases?

Considering many of the elites may be rapists themselves, this situation will unlikely change. If I have a daughter I would never put her in Japanese schools, where teachers are known to also rape their students with little to no consequences.

Most men are raised on porn. Many women too. May as well say “generations of women will be victimized by men raised on TV or cornflakes”, same argument.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's not an argument.

It's a fact that many of these perps upload their assaults to porn-related sites.

Additionally, it's also well-known that the main purveyors of porn are criminal syndicates, who traffic women and trick/rape women for porn site content.

So all the "castrate them now" really just amounts to hot air, while your justifying your weakness for porn actually concretely supports the continued exploitation of the victims.

It's not baffling at all when you consider that the LDP was founded by war criminals (reinstated by US authorities) who supported the 'comfort women' policies.

Hold on a minute Poirot. That’s nonsense.

Yes, it is an argument.

You have a lot of complaints and apparently well-known evidence. You should report it to the police before posting here.

Other than that, what’s the solution? Share your ideas.

I hope the young lady is able to make a full and quick recovery.

Unfortunately, that's not how this works.

She will be traumatized for the rest of her life.

I hope she can get help with the trauma to help her overcome it.

A friend once told me, "I'd rather be murdered than raped again, because if I were murdered, I wouldn't have to live with the memories."

Elsewhere, rape is a serious crime. As a deterrent, penalties can be severe and perpetrators can look forward to serious jail time. Here, it's treated as a misdemeanour or even worse, as a rite of passage.

If this man were interrogated for years, he would never understand the real reason he did what he did. "Stress"? Naw, doesn't explain HOW or WHY he chose such a damaging way to relieve his tension. 'Porn' seems to be a major EXCUSE for the many acts of deviant sexuality many societies seems to experience. If sex education started with toilet training, neither 'porn' nor rape would be the issue it is in many societies today. But, starting at puberty when the brain is doing a massive reorganization, to learn about a behavior more profound to the individual and more prone to impulse, given no alternative behaviors from which to choose, than any other Human activity is a failure resulting in what we see here. And the sexual behaviors many of these 'virgin' minds first observe are, in fact, porn. Porn is not interesting to anyone without a latent fear of sex and echoes of 'bad' rippling their emotions. Much of it is no different than what happens in a barnyard but the attitudes and behaviors it projects to its consumers is ALL THEY KNOW. Had they been taught about mutualistic sexual behaviors from childhood, the porn would not have the titillating effects it has but would be just dumb, uninteresting behavior between two emotional cripples as though watching other peoples' toilet behavior. 'Porn' may be 'responsible' for 'deviant' sexual practices but only as an intermediate. IGNORANCE and FEAR of Human sexuality leaves our children open to the cultural transmission of rape as an alternate behavior to ignorance of appropriate, altruistic sexual behavior. That is, society does what it does. It passes its diseases along just as its benefits. Not teaching our children appropriate behaviors for the most IMPORTANT behaviors they will face as adults makes them highly vulnerable to the behavioral models passed down by the twisted generation before them. 'Porn' is not a 'cause, it is a symptom and measure of the ignorance and fear a population has been given for their most important function, reproduction. And this state is favored by the rulers as it adds fear and confusion and opportunity for dominance but that is a different topic. It's not 'porn', it's us.

@William Bjornson

Nice analysis...which basically confirms the central role that porn (in lieu of adequate education from the comfort women denying gov't) plays in these crimes.

I have a problem with your premise. To keep this short, a quick check of this animals web history would most likely show a penchant for rape porn. This was a premeditated act of violence and rape. He certainly wasn’t suffering from any strong fears, except maybe being unable to socialize with women and as a result acting on his sequestered fantasies, which goes in a different direction of society’s problems: isolation.
