Boy in Japan uses his high voice to impersonate a schoolgirl in prostitution scam

Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested six junior high school boys on charges of assault and theft, in relation to an attack that took place in a park in Osaka City’s Ikuno Ward before dawn on Oct 6.

As a prank, the group of boys created a profile for an online dating app, pretending to be a high school girl. Since the app allows for voice chat between users, to deepen the ruse one of the boys, who’s in his second year of middle school (and thus 12 or 13 years old), did the speaking duties, since puberty hasn’t caused his voice to change yet, and he could still approximate the high pitch of a schoolgirl.

Using the app, the group managed to lure a 20-year-old male college student to the park, offering to have sex with him in exchange for money. However, when he arrived, the group of boys (minus the one who’d been playing the role of the schoolgirl in their voice chats), assaulted the man, kicking and pounding on him and breaking his nose before stealing the 900 yen he had on him.

It’s unclear whether the man reported the incident or not. However, on Oct 9 four of the boys once again were lying in wait to ambush another target they’d found via the dating app. However, when their mark didn’t show, the boys decided to cut their losses and just beat up some random 55-year-old man who happened to be in the park at that time.

The subsequent investigation of that assault led to the police tracking one of the boys down, who then spilled the beans on their previous bout of recreational violence. During questioning about the Oct 6 attack, the boys told the police “It was fun making fun of him and beating him up.”

Put them in the stocks and pelt them with rotten vegetables. Not enough humiliation these days.

While some may be shocked at violence of these JHS boys, it happens more often than people want to consider. Far too much is never covered by the media here, and incidents like this are only covered on sites like this, and almost never in the Japanese media, because of their age!

'it was fun making fun of him and beating him up', but if somebody had done that to me I'd be the first one to run home crying to Mama

11 ( +12 / -1 )

It is disturbing that JHS boys would do this

Funny. These perverts (the men) deserve everything they get!

Funny? A guy who's chilling at a park gets randomly assaulted and that's funny? And the "pervert" as you put it, is a 20 years old looking for sex, who's just a year away (months?) from being a minor in Japan. If looking for sex makes you a perv, everyone in this planet is a perv.

While I didn't have a problem with the boys targeting perverts

Vigilante justice is not the answer for these would be criminals, however we see that this was not the case as they made another attempt. The mark did not show so they assaulted a random man that just happened to be at the park.

And if they were not caught, then who would they have targeted next?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

So, this creep was going to meet a high school girl for paid sex and only had ¥900 on him? Paying a minor fir sex is illegal. Why was he not arrested too? The cops should give these kids a job trapping all these creeps who want to pay young girls for sex. I think his beating was well deserved.

But he did not pay a minor for sex. And it looks like he had no intention either. The abuse was not justified.

Yes, because healthy societies deal with crime through vigilantism, right?

... right?

5 ( +9 / -4 )

’Healthy societies’ don’t have an ever growing list of creepy men prepared to pay teenage girls for sex, do they?

So you think that the fix is to switch to vigilantism?

Yeah, that makes sense.

Nobody is talking about vigilantes. It is about trapping these perverts who are grooming young girls on the internet to pay them for sex.

"Nobody is talking about vigilantes" you say, while going on to describe vigilantist actions in your very next sentence.

Many countries have teams of police devoted to trapping these creeps and they catch too many.

What does that have to do with this:

The cops should give these kids a job trapping all these creeps who want to pay young girls for sex.

You're talking about rewarding them for vigilantist behavior.

Seems legit.

I believe justice should be in the courts, not on the streets. Therefore, I have an issue with both the 55 year old and the 20 year old being assaulted. Vigilantism reminds me to much of the lynchings.

@JJ Jetplane

It's not vigilante justice. But pedophilia is a much worst crime than someone targeting pedophiles.

You were making an argument for vigilantism. That it is somehow heroic for random citizens to plan and plot the assault of individuals for crimes. This is why sting operations exist. We do not need ordinary people, kids no less planning these sort of acts.

Now because one person may or may not have planned to have sexual relations with an imaginary girl, we gloss over the fact that a person was assaulted in broad daylight? These kids would have continued attacking people for no reason whatsoever and you're focusing too much on the first instance.

Good thing the first guy was a creep.

What if the guy showed up for who believed was a grown woman? Prostitution is still illegal. Shall we break his nose too because justice? Where do we draw the line? Littering? Not pay taxes on time, I now reserve the right to kick in your door and break your face because you didn't sort the trash correctly?

Paedophilia is liking someone who is a minor.

From Wiki:* Pedophilia (alternatively spelt paedophilia) is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children*

High-school girls are not prepubescent children.

Again, we should get our definitions in order and use less hyperbole.

What the article describes is not grooming. I think we should be more careful in confusing terms and using misleading language.

About the young perps, I see a carreer in crime for them. I doubt that is the last time we hear of them.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Unbelievable those youngster can do such a crime? It's just for fun wtf ! They were bullied.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Yeah, if these kids just kept it to beating up creeps trying to get with schoolgirls then they probably wouldn't have been caught as the person making the accusation would also have to answer a lot of tough questions. Attacking some random guy instead was just stupid and of course they're going to report it to the police.

Youre right, I should have used ephebophile (12-adulthood). I was using colloquially. Either way, the age wasn't that far off (he's 20, "she" could've been 16-18).

There is a world of difference between pedophilia (which I find as disgusting as any normal person) and being attracted to high-school girls. Yes, it is bit weird and of course illegal if under 18, but biologically, most 16 year old girls are fully developed women. Note that just a few decades back in history, it was quite normal for girls to marry at that age.

So I really dislike the term "pedophilia" being tossed around to carelessly.

Do you think perverts reading this might think twice before going to have sex with and underage girl they met online?

Nope, actually. But maybe be more careful when meeting up. I know I will. Er, would be.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@GrungeHamster

Seems you stopped reading my passage after 1 sentence. Bevause you completely took what I said out of context. I clearly said they targeting the man that had nothing to do with it was way too far over the line.

Also, if were only targeting perverts, i wouldn't bat an eye. A pedophile, who thinks he will get to sleep with a JHS girl, is beaten up and robbed. I find the pedophilia part to be a much more serious offense than the losers who robbed him. It's not vigilante justice. But pedophilia is a much worst crime than someone targeting pedophiles.

Guy came to the park with 900 yen expecting what? He shouldn't have gotten beaten up but he wasn't getting any nookie either, that is for sure. He certainly didn't get a "happy ending."

If the boys had spent as much time finding a date, instead of pretending to be one, none of this would have happened (though, I wonder, if the girls didn't "put out," what would they have done to her?). Talk about mixed-up priorities.

Very detailed.

While I didn't have a problem with the boys targeting perverts, they took this way too far by attacking a man that was unrelated and minding his own business. A for the first guy they attacked, he had no business trying to proposition a school girl for sexual services.

It seems strange to see so many people defending this creep. I’m quite that, if it was your daughter he arranged to meet the beating would have been much more severe.

Who in this thread has done that? I just went back through the comments and I don’t see anyone defending him.

The worst is that Japanese girls go and sell themselves on the net without any pimps involved ! This situation is world famous with phone numbers to call everywhere...

Checking actively for my girls about that because internet is a jungle.

Beating someone without knowing him and evidence is a crime.

A sad "Clockwork orange" reminder.

Jj jetplane:

Paedophilia is liking someone who is a minor. Japan defines minor up to 20. Therefore, as the 20 year old is a minor too, he is not legally a paedo. 18 is not the legal age of adulthood everywhere, mate.
