Police in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of robbing a convenience store.

The suspect, Kentaro Tanaka, works as a bus driver for the Sendai Transportation Department. Police said that he has admitted to robbing a FamilyMart convenience store of about 115,000 yen to pay back debts, Fuji TV reported Friday.

According to police, Tanaka entered the store at around 2:45 a.m. Thursday and asked the employee for a pack of cigarettes. He then pulled out a knife and demanded the employee hand over the money in the cash register.

Police said surveillance camera footage captured the incident, which showed the suspect wearing a black cap and white face mask. The employee was unharmed.

At 6 a.m., Tanaka showed up for his shift and drove his bus for eight hours. Police arrested him after he returned to the bus depot.

Police said Tanaka was identified by his car which street surveillance camera footage showed him getting into after he came out of the convenience store.

This is news people! Stop it already, serious journalism here pointing out that the Japanese police were kind enough to wait for his shift to end, unwilling to gamble with disrupting the delicate time table of his route.

Robbery at 2:45 work at 6:00. driving a bus. All day. With passengers. Great job police.

What's your point? I can't see beyond your sarcasm and truncated sentences.

Sensei258 - In Japan, big brother is ALWAYS watching you

This is not specific to Japan by any means. The average person is on camera upwards of 40 times a day in the US.

This is one seriously dumb criminal.
