A Cambodian man was stabbed to death in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, on Sunday morning, police said, adding that a 33-year-old Sri Lankan man turned himself to police in Chiba late Sunday.

According to police, the victim, who was 30, was found in an apartment on the second floor of a residential building just after 2:30 a.m., Fuji TV reported.

Police said somebody called 119 and reported that a man had been stabbed and gave the address. When police arrived, the found the victim collapsed in his apartment. He was taken to hospital where he died about two hours later due to loss of blood from a stab wound to his right thigh. No knife was found in the apartment.

Sounds like there was a fight, someone got seriously hurt, and everyone got scared and fled. I just read that bleeding from trauma is still one of the top causes of death for people under 45, no matter what country you live in.

Interested to know where you got that information from. According to world health organisation, 70% of all deaths are still from non-communicable diseases....

"Police said they are examining street surveillance camera footage from outside the apartment building to try and identify who came and went at around the time of the crime."

Hope those cameras help.

I saw this on the electronic news while I was riding the Shinkansen. Said police had identified a Sri Lankan as the suspect.

Who wants to bet alcohol was involved.

RIP to the victim.

I think money could have been a motive; as in one borrowed money from the other and then didn't return it.

Did anyone put a tourniquet on? A thigh wound can hit a major artery but if it is below the groin a tourniquet should stop blood loss. Surely the police would have known this simple first aid step? He might have bled out before they got there but then he should not have died 2 hours later in the hospital, he would have died on the scene.
