Case involving hospital worker who kissed female colleague sent to prosecutors

Osaka Prefectural Police have sent papers on a sexual molestation case involving a male clerical worker at Sakai City Medical Center to public prosecutors.

The unidentified male suspect, who is in his 50s, is employed at a medical facility designated for treating infectious disease patients, including COVID-19 cases, Sankei Shimbun reported. He is accused of forcibly kissing a female colleague in her 30s inside the hospital’s administration office on Jan 1.

According to police, the incident occurred after the suspect finished his shift. The victim, who was working overtime on New Year’s Day, filed a report with police in which she said the man pulled down her face mask and kissed her without her consent.

During questioning by police, the man denied the charge and said she consented to the kiss.

Sakai City Medical Center on Tuesday issued a warning to the male employee concerning the incident. The woman has taken a leave of absence due to acute stress disorder.

I was talking about the French in general, male and female. Oh how many times I've received an unwanted kiss from a French woman, or even worse, man! The Italians do the same thing too. They kiss a lot. Maybe it was a bad cynical joke but I don't think sexual predators are funny.

Acute stress disorder, or Acute embarrassment?

Sexual assault is considered to be very shameful, and women feel embarrassed to talk about it.

They were chatting? Drinking? And he went for it? They were chatting, and she encouraged it?

She says he "forcibly" kissed her. That means she did not encourage it.

Even if they were drinking, even if they were chatting, there is still no reason for him to force her to kiss him.

Regardless, without any evidence on top of the fact that this is such a minor incident... Newsworthy?!

There is agreement that the kiss occurred. The evidence is that she said it was forced - what more evidence do you require?

Without any facts, withold your judgement.

Yet you seem to feel there is enough evidence to judge her as a liar. Hmmm.

Wow. Did they have to be THAT stern with him? How could they?

Pathetic.. And as usual, nothing will happen after this incident. Good work, Japan....

To everyone who seems to think it's "he said, she said". Why would she even report it, if it was consensual?

If she wanted money or something else from him, wouldn't she have fabricated something more incriminating, like groping, or exposing himself, or repeated sexual misconduct?

It's not like they had an affair, and she's having a change of heart or feeling guilty. It was one kiss. And, the only reason to report it is if it was non-consensual. Use your brains.

The kiss itself should not be a big issue to involve the police

Au contraire. It most certainly is.

The unidentified male suspect, who is in his 50s

What, is his name being withheld because he's a senior?

No, but to encourage such behavior, usually the identity of sexual assault criminals is protected.

the farthest they would go is share his name. no picture nor public record of about the sexual criminal's location is available.

and as you can see by the comments section, the male dominant society in which they blame the victim when the victim report sexual harassments, thinking that women are having a great time going through the mental pressure and pain for some gain?

The kiss itself should not be a big issue to involve the police (maybe hospital administrators), but pulling down the mask for the kiss ought to be. Did she have a mask on as well?

She should have kicked the loser creep in the groin, full force, and THEN called the cops.

On that day, we all kiss each other in France.

Yes, on the cheeks, not the mouth

And the guy was in his 50s vs 30s

Why did the medical center, ONLY give him a “warning”?

“Sakai City Medical Center, a medical facility designated for treating infectious disease patients, including COVID-19 cases, issued a warning to the male employee concerning the incident.

In addition to ‘*BECAUSE SHE SAID “NO!”, haven’t politicians and others recently had to resign or, be fired for hypocritically*, breaking CoVid protocols?

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Yeah, that is assault. Not only sexual assault for making unwanted advances on your coworker, but this is a workplace where people deal with infectious diseases. Even a couple would be taking a massive risk by doing that.

For people trying to wave it off as not a big deal, what if the story read that he cornered her in the office and slapped her? I would wager that people would be commenting how messed up guys are in this country to do something like that, right? Nobody would ask if it was a solicited slap that she asked for. This is every bit assault as much as that would be.

My only question is why did it take over 6 months for this case to progress?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

BECAUSE SHE SAID SO

True....but he said it was...so how can you say one is right because they said so and the other is wrong, even although they also said so....around in circles we go.

Unsolicited kissing is NOT ok.....whoever is doing the kissing.

Assuming there were no witnesses or cameras, how do you prove that a kiss was consensual or not??

BECAUSE SHE SAID SO.

So much missing here. Unfortunately we live in a society where people are inclined to just blindly believe what the female victim says. In cases like this the man is guilty until proven innocent.

And another man accusing a woman of lying about sexual assault. How many is that now? I think there's been five so far. How many more? Keep going guys, - you are on a roll. Let the misogyny flags fly!

Maybe he was a bad kisser. That’s the reason she complained to the police

I'm pretty sure she called the police because she was sexually assaulted.

Yeah try going to France, they forcibly kiss anyone, man or woman, as a greeting lol.

Are you saying that every French male is a sexual predator?

Are you saying that sexual assault is funny?

Acute distress disorder for a kiss lol.

Sexual assault is no laughing matter - how can you "lol" at someone being kissed forcibly?

A slap on his face would show clearly your no consent and would be enough.

And what if he hit her back?

And what if he reported her for assault, and the police had no choice but to charge them both?

And what if her slap had no effect, and he just tried it again?

More is sexual harassment and that is serious.

Forcing someone to kiss you is sexual harassment, and ALL forms of sexual harassment are serious.

Maybe the whole story is untold.

Anyway not the place to do that.

Again, we have a male poster accusing a woman of lying about sexual assault, when it is not a reasonable assumption to make.

Still, is prison the place for one kiss ?

It does not say he will go to prison.

We know he won't go to prison.

Even rapists don't go to prison.

This is why women are so angry.
