No suspended sentences please!
jcapan
Obviously the guys who did this are scum of the earth but this is what I'm struck by:
"the defense team had asked for a suspended sentence, saying his acts did not involve the use of force"
Meaning they should get off scot free b/c they didn't have to beat up the defenseless woman they were gang raping. The defense team ought to receive counseling of their own.

Just 4 years ?

I'd like some posters here to note this:
Drinking is not an excuse in Japan. It's a circumstance.

IparryU, I don't understand why you are writing about "drugging someone" or "putting something in their drink".
wildwest
High profile lawer in the family helped him get a lenient sentence, hopefuly the victime will get a fair amount of "sorry money".
Garthgoyle
But it does and it did. The guy who took her home and raped her got a suspended slap on the wrist sentence and so did the guy who molested her.
Does alcohol really changes people into an entirely different person to the point they become monsters? At most, it releases the real inner-self which only shows the scum they already were.
Crimes like this one where the assailants were drunk should be treated none less that DUI.

Comforting to know that within a decade he'll be practising medicine somewhere in Japan....

@Strangerland : Agreed but, wrongful so, courts take it into account.... Not in control of one self. Pretty poor from a 1st world country.

It still boggles my mind how the last guy only got a suspended sentence. After all he took the girl home to his place and raped here there. Oh, I forgot...it was impulsive after all.
I can understand why the former doctor-in-training only got a suspended sentence, but the other three should get some time off in prison. I hope that the one guy gets his deserved punishment despite his appeal. And I would really love to read soon that they found a way to lock the impulsive guy away as well.
IparryU
Had to read this twice, thought I read it wrong the first time... but nope, I read it correctly. Drugging someone is not the use of force, just jokingly putting something in their drink with a predetermined outcome. Scum level human beings here.

Neither of which was because they were drunk.

No It bring out honestly, it shows the real person, so when there no drunk are hiding who they really are.
FizzBit
It can, but mostly in Hollywood movies or TV. I'd say this was more of a deviant/criminal Group-Think act than the result of crazed inebriation.

This has nothing to do with being drunk, Most people drink but don't go out raping. One of them is appealing a suspended sentence. I others word feel hard done by. All scum involve should receive a stint in gaol. The owner is also guilty and his licence revoked. All of these scam should not be allow to practice or allow to deal adults and children inane capacity.
sir_bentley28
Its funny how many crimes are committed after drinking this "drug", but its still easy to buy. Maybe they should increase the punishment for crimes committed while under the influence of alcohol.

I wonder what is meant by incapacitated. I am assuming they did not have to carry her to the bathroom or to the guy's home.
