The chief producer of NHK's morning news show "Ohayo Nippon" has been arrested for filming up a woman's skirt with his smartphone.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday on an escalator at Shimo-kitazawa Station on the Keio Inokashira line.

A male university student in his 20s noticed that the suspect, Satoshi Shigefuji, 42, had his phone under the skirt of a female university student in her 20s, and detained him while police were called, Fuji TV reported.

Police said Shigefuji has been charged with violation of an anti-nuisance prevention ordinance.

Did he discover something new while on the escalator?

Did he have a bad day at work and was indirectly lashing out at his boss, co-workers, wife?

Was he feeling Entitled because he is a media figure and

it is the job of the media to shine a light in dark corners?

What a sad and pathetic way for a very successful person to end up !

Is this really a crime of national proportions?

Seems like the media likes these kinky perverted stories.

Incorrect. This is of national importance because of who the perpetrator is. Let's have a little intellectual honesty.

Found a camera pen on the beach last year, went home and plugged it in. There were more than 70 clips and short films taken in Family Mart, of young female staff members changing shirts and upskirt shots. Plus footage taken by the guy who owned the pen, following girls and women around the store, as well as on trains, escalators and even a local University in my area. We handed the camera USB in to the police. The guy was dumb enough to film his face and name badge, but we've heard nothing in the news.

I don't get the fascination these creeps get from doing this!

He might have been doing research for a new program on sexual deviation/perversion.

Ohayo Chief! Welcome to the nick.

Hopefully they will cancel the program and maybe replace it with a screen test image.

Perhaps he was going to use the footage in one of his NHK programs.

The penslities for this chikdish and perverted act need to be made much more severe to stop these idiots.

I have a boy, but if it was my daughter, and I caught him, I would restrain for at least 30min before calling police, so every person walking past can look at his shameful face as I explain what he did.

Ohayou Nippon, Indeed. Time to wake up and start addressing this problem a little more seriously. Violation of anti-nuisance laws is not enough -- this kind of thing needs to carry charges of sexual assault at least, and some serious jail time. Otherwise, just get ready to click this afternoon to see another government official, police officer, city worker, or NHK employee doing more of the same.

And hats off to the Young man who restrained this pervert.

Is this not the 3rd person to be caught filming ladies knickers in the last past three weeks? its almost a national hobby/sport.

It's a little hard to understand why someone would risk incarceration and humiliation to upskirt when the can watch porn risk free on the Internet anytime.

@Citizen

I suppose the risk is part of the thrill... honestly, I have no idea though.

Again, the guy who restrain him will one day find a knife in his belly for that little reason of upskirt...the risk is high compare to the childish action.

Best is simply to shame him but no one needs police to do that. Just film him !

National news, what else please ?

NHK really know how to pick them hey.

Quite honourable of you. But you should've taken it to the place where the guy worked. The manager would've taken swifter action.

Tax payer funded perversion needs to stop. How about mandatory prison for all civil servants convicted of being pervy?

Looks like there are perverts everywhere in Japan....I guess this is a bit less worse than rapes in India or killings in US, disgusting mofos. Before the feminists start kicking my nuts.....why do Japanese females (especially kids) wear such short skirts? I agree it is a female's right but there is also risk calculation in doing most things. When there are so many perverts walking around everywhere why not protect yourselves a little bit or carry a weapon to castrate the offender on the spot. It does not seem like a good idea when you have to literally take escalators, stairs and trains everyday. This is a bit different in US where most generally do not have to do that or dress appropriately.
