The Yokohama Public Prosecutor’s Office has fined a 23-year-old child welfare worker for indecent behavior with a 14-year-old junior high school student temporarily placed in the center’s custody.
Kaito Yagishita, a child welfare worker employed at the Chuo Child Consultation Center in Minami Ward, was fined 500,000 yen on Tuesday for violating Kanagawa Prefecture’s Ordinance of Juvenile Protection, Sankei Shimbun reported.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Yagishita engaged in sexual acts with the girl at a hotel in Yokohama on April 15. He was arrested on May 26 and admitted that he was fully aware the teen was underage.
The two became acquaintances while the girl was in temporary custody at the welfare center and messaged each other on a social networking site afterwards.© Japan Today
