Chinese woman goes missing after security inspection at Narita Airport

A Chinese woman in her 20s preparing to board a flight out of Japan passed through airport security checks and subsequently failed to board her flight on Feb 4, it was revealed Monday. Police said that it is not possible to legally exit the airport after passing through the security inspection; therefore they believe she may have illegally exited via a restricted area.

According to the immigration office, the woman had been working as a trainee in Tokyo. She had been booked on a flight to Shanghai on the afternoon of Feb 4 but failed to board the flight. A woman fitting her description was captured by a CCTV camera in the Terminal 2 train station. According to police, the only ways she could have exited the airport were to have slipped back through the security area or to have used a staff exit.

Why would you be booked on a flight and by who and then pretend to go on it but then skip out on it? Wasn't a deportation as she was not escorted. So why bother even going to the airport?

Why didn't the airport go into lock down when they noticed her missing? At the very least, they would have (should have) unloaded all the suitcases when she failed to turn up to get her stuff out of the hold. Please tell me they at least did that?

I'm with chuckers. Once i boarded a plane and there was someone in my seat. it turned out we both had the same seat number on our boarding pass - no one seemed to care but it seemed like a pretty basic security lapse to me.

There are lots of Chinese illegals in Japan. And probably she didn't want to go back to China I'd figure.

A lot of people are being quite sarcastic about this, but pause to think for a moment and you'll realise this is a real security concern.

If someone can walk through security then go to the staff exits BEHIND the security checkpoints and walk out, then what's stopping them from walking right back in again (or letting someone else in), but this time carrying drugs, an explosive device, or anything else for that matter.

Once you're through the security checkpoint you're presumed to be carrying nothing dangerous, and security is almost non-existant.

This indicates a major security breach.

I'm with Frungy on this one. If one (apparently) lone Chinese woman can do this, what could a determined terrorist do?

You'll find her later, working in a massage parlor in Roppongi.

China is the second in GDP line up. China is the great country with most modern weapons and military. They are going to the No.1 soon. Japan and other asian countries should look at China as a super power. And most of the Chinese hate Japan.

Why Chinese, a person from such a great country shuold overstay like small country like Japan?????

Chinese govt may say that there is no Chinese overstaying in Japan. if you find anyone with Chinese passport in Japan, that means that is part of CHINA....

Um, to make a lot more money than she could back home, maybe?

I bet you can find her at Kaimedo or Kinshicho?? And as bentheredonthat said,, I think Yoshinoya,, but 7/11 pays more.. ha ha, A guy I work with is Chinese and has no visa,, but he's cool, and is a hard worker..

Chinese with no visa in Japan? No way. According to the Chinese interpretation the Island called Japan ( currently) was part of China from the begining. If you try to send out of this Island then China has the right to ask compensation, if you oppose then China has the right to attack you for SELF DEFENCE ONLY way.

if you oppose then China has the right to attack you for SELF DEFENCE ONLY way.

realmind, that kind of self-serving, non-Euclidian logic only works in Chinese. When you translate it into English, it becomes complete nonsense.

Let's hope that is what it is.

Frungy, I agree with you, this is a real security concern.

I am VERY WORRIED ABOUT SECURITY at Narita now. I just cancelled a flight out of there and will fly only kansai now. What if she's a highly trained sleeper who has memorized the schematics of the airport and is now holed up in an unused room making an explosive device out of a pocket calculator and some soap??? seriously though, I'm being serious.

I love how everyone thinks the real world is like the movies. Why didnt they just call jack bauer? he could torture all the asian looking women in the entire airport with a sock and some electrical wire until one confesses

not exactly big news...

oh my gawd! chinese woman on the loose!

other than the very unlikely possibility of terror, who cares? why make it so hard to get out after you've gone through security anyway? its just about control. maybe she realized she forgot something important...or she couldn't leave her boyfriend (I smell a romantic comedy plot).
