A Japanese comedian was arrested Tuesday after allegedly staging an online auction of an acquaintance's valuable bicycles, then stealing them for sale to the highest bidder, reports said.
Nobushige Kaneshima, 39, is said to have snapped pictures of nine high-end bikes owned by a cycling magazine editor and posted them on to an Internet auction site.
Once the virtual hammer fell, Kaneshima allegedly stole them from the editor's garage.
The bicycles were worth a collective two million yen, broadcaster NTV and other media said.
Kaneshima, who goes by the stage name "Kaneshima Dancing" and is well known as a ballroom performer, denies the allegations, the reports said.

wow! and this is rare. i thought the end would be "Kaneshima admitted to police that he loves to steal bikes, smell them and sold it to the highest bidder. "

I will wait for part three of this story. -And I did not know comedians had an interest in high-end bikes. I bet you each picture had a digital i.d. on it. Should be another easy case for Japan's finest.

I highly doubt anyone so high-profile has a need to perform a stunt such as this. The risks far outweigh the benefits. especially if you are already doing financially well.
Unfortunately Japan has a 95-99% conviction rate across the spectrum of reported crimes, so we will never really know if he did it or not. He has been accused, so it is off to jail.

Well, I found this one very funny!

In Japan you have to fraud for billion $ to avoid going to Jail like those Olympus executive for example but for as little as 20,000$, this guy will likely be convicted and do his time.

No not just you. The comedians are not funny at all. Maybe he thought he should try some funny business.
Lowly
It mentions only in passing, it was the guy's "friend." That is pretty low.

The laughter arisen is none but the forethought result of his last act, a mastermind in the making!!! Gotta laugh at the irony...

Should be very easy to prove if he did indeed do it.
