Company employee arrested for killing mother-in-law in Tochigi

Police on Wednesday arrested a 39-year-old company employee on suspicion of murdering his 70-year-old mother-in-law in Moka, Tochigi Prefecture.

According to police, Yasuko Sekiguchi was found dead on the street next to her house around dawn on June 1. The suspect, identified as Shinji Horiuchi, is married to Sekiguchi's second-oldest daughter. Police allege that Horiuchi beat Sekiguchi about the head and face.

TBS reported that Sekiguchi had consulted police about domestic violence involving Horiuchi and her daughter last week. Police said they had been looking for Horiuchi who left his home a few days earlier.

Horiuchi has denied the charge, police said.

If you aren't guilty then please tell everyone why did you try to run.

Yubaru ~

If you aren't guilty then please tell everyone why did you try to run.

One explanation could be that in Japan, you are guilty (as evidenced by your question) until you can prove you're innocent (while sitting in a jail cell for at least 23 days undergoing 'questioning'.)

I agree. If the police have you in custody then within days you will "confess" to being Kim jongs puppy if they decide it. Yes. He may have done it but no he may not have done it. Never trust the jcops.

I can say only this, he did what plenty of husbands here and maybe worldwide have dreamt of doing!

Yubaru, if you leave your house after fights with your spouse, you are automatically guilty of any crime committed in your absence ? If he was not involved, he couldn't guess the MIL is dead and they wanted to arrest him. But surely, if I was suspected as he is, I would not come back as no matter how guilty or innocent, that's never your interest to let the cops quizz you. You'd better send a lawyer. Once you're arrested you have to prove your innocence (convenient from jail) to get out , but as long you're not, they have to prove there is evidence to arrest you or not. The result for justice is the same. For you it's time in jail or not.

That would be a good line of defense to convince them you're related to Kim.
