A man on Tuesday morning assaulted a convenience store worker in Yokohama, the latest in a string of thefts which police believe have been carried out by the same man. Police believe the suspect is Osaka-born Yuya Muta, 22, who has been on the wanted list nationwide for a series of convenience store hold-ups.
According to police investigations, the man entered the store around 4 a.m. and threatened the 18-year-old shop clerk with a knife. He stole about 70,000 yen and fled. Nobody was injured, police said.
Police said the suspect, whose face was captured on security cameras, resembles Muta who is believed to have robbed 11 stores in Yamanashi, Kanagawa, Nagano, Chiba and Tokyo since August.© Japan Today
