Couple arrested after stealing dolls for woman's daughter in Fukuoka

A 38-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were arrested for theft on Wednesday, after they went shopping with the woman’s 2-year-old daughter and allegedly stole dolls and other toys from a store in a shopping center in KitaKyushu City.

Safumi Goto, an unemployed woman and resident of Kitsuki City in Oita Prefecture, and Shinya Miyamoto, a construction worker and resident of the same City, are accused of putting dolls and other items worth about 13,000 yen into a bag while inside the store just after 5 p.m. A security staff member saw the pair put the items in the bag and apprehended them when they left the store without paying for them.

Goto has denied stealing the dolls and told police she thought Miyamoto was going to pay for them, but Miyamoto has admitted to the allegations and said he stole them for Goto’s daughter.

They should have volunteered to take some of those dools that were to be "disposed of" after that festival that was featured on the Pic of the day a few weeks ago.

"dolls" not "dools"

Awwww...the construction worker guy was just being romantic, getting some dolls for the little girl so he could score (points) with her mother later on.

I like the word dools. No going back and repairing typ o's here. Dolls have spirits here, so I hope they do not get zapped or anything by the doll (dool) gods.

Altria, I think he even scored more points that way than he could if he paid for them. He really showed her to what extent he can go just to please her.

Nice. guy steals dolls for woman's kid. Women likely knew all about it. guy gets caught, fesses up. Woman pulls the innocent "oh , i didn't know what was going on" routine.

Men, be careful who you steal for. Make sure she really appreciates it, and won't leave you hanging when the fuzz shows up.

Do the crime together, do the time together.

I got to say this is more pleasant to read than the "beating up of the kid or wife puts hot water etc". Whilst I don't condone this action, every parent wants the best for their kid.

I feel for this woman..I mean she's not working and probably can't afford nice things for her daughter but it still does not make this right. Pretty hard to believe that she didn't see him leave without paying. Besides, a 2-year-old is not too hard to amuse. A cardboard box can keep her little one entertained for hours! Be a little creative. As for the guy; yeah, sounds like he was just trying to please her. But for most women, I imagine having a boyfriend who's a thief is not a big turn on!

I guess some women are attracted to the 'unemployed bad boy' type.

But for most women, I imagine having a boyfriend who's a thief is not a big turn on!

I don't know if I agree with that statement. Robin Hood, Lupan III, Ocean's 11, AIG execs - all these guys get plenty of women.

While he's in jail she's gallavanting off with her daughter and the next homeless shoplifter.

Why is this national news?

This story does not hold together, what would your average 2 year old want with a doll called "Do Me Daddy"?

he/they will have some serious negative mojo after stealing those dolls. too bad the little one may be included in the bad luck.

@gogogo: LOL! So true...

Men under the influence of women would do the most stupid things. it is fun for women to make men do what they want.

With her last name what can she expect?

Very sad, sounds like she's down and out and was boosting toys for her kid.

Yup, he was under the influence..of woman.
