Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested an 18-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man on suspicion of abandoning the body of her five-month-old daughter at their home.
Police said Takumi Kanbara, a company employee in Hadano City, and the mother, who cannot be named because she is a minor, are accused of leaving the baby girl's body at his home on Saturday and Sunday, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said Kanbara is an acquaintance of the minor.
The mother of the teenager initially contacted the authorities claiming that her granddaughter had disappeared from her home where all three lived. Police then visited Kanbara's residence and discovered a plastic bag containing the baby's body. The two admitted to corpse abandonment charges following their arrest.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of the baby's death. Police said the mother also hinted at having killed the child.

Unbelievably sad.
Some couples want children but are unable to, yet they just toss theirs away.

Sad...how can someone do this to a little child! Lock her and him up, for a very long time!
Fighto!
Scum of the earth. These psychopaths should be locked up and banned for life to have any contact with children.

We have a 5 month old baby girl! And I cannot fathom a reason for a normal functioning adult who made the decision to create life for 9 month only to exterminate that innocent life after 5 months. I can NEVER think of the slightest harm to my baby. Just...........wow!

This is terrible. If you don't want the baby there are baby hatches in hospitals and such that let you abandon your child if you don't want it. But at least give it a chance at life. Lock them both up

The part with the baby hatches is a big problem though. You have that one baby hatch in Kumamoto and that's it. At least at the end of November there still was only that one baby hatch in all of Japan but maybe things have changed for the better and there is now a second one somewhere...

sir, I hear you. First of all, congratulations! They really are a bundle of joy!
My daughter is almost 3- son almost 6, but I still remember them vividly in their first year of life. How helpless they were. So weak and so dependent on their parents for warmth love and nourishment. Which is why stories like this are more than heartbreaking. They literally are enough to ruin your day. And it seems that nearly every day there is a story about a child being hurt or killed, and I just find it so hard to stomach. I too cannot understand how you could do that to ANY child much less your OWN. It truly boggles the mind.

really? There's only one? I didn't know that. I was under the assumption they were pretty much everywhere in Japan.

Yes, there unfortunately really seems to be only one. Japan Today also reported on it once but the most recent article I was able to find is on The Mainichi.

Something went wrong before the child was born and after the child was born the only people know is the two involved. WHY?
