Police in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, have arrested a 33-year-old woman and her 39-year-old boyfriend on suspicion of abusing her seven-month-old son by fastening clothes pegs to his face.
Police said Noriko Nemoto, a temp worker, and her boyfriend, Zendo Ishigami, a company employee from Kashiwa in Ibaraki Prefecture, were arrested Thursday, Sankei Shimbun reported.
Police said the abuse occurred at around 10 a.m. on Sept 3 at Nemoto’s apartment. The couple fastened clothes pegs to the child’s nose and cheeks.
An employee at the child’s daycare center noticed facial bruises and contacted welfare officials.
Police said Nemoto has admitted abusing her child, while Ishigami has denied the charge, claiming he has no recollection of the incident.

We hear about these abuse cases then get no follow-up. Will the couple be sent to jail and baby put into foster care or will the couple get off with a warning and the baby sent home with these disgusting people?

The couple were reasonable adults and they knew what they were doing. They should be sent to prison, not to a psychiatric hospital.

This is the sickest kind of child abuse. This was not for discipline or to make the child stop crying. This was just for fun. This pair of idiots were likely laughing and taking photos while they were putting pegs on the poor kid's face.

All kinds of child abuse are wrong, but sometimes parents can have a limited justification by doing things that they were told are good for the children, as a form of discipline. These parents have no such excuse, they abused a completely defenseless child for fun, sentencing should reflect this.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: people need to get thoroughly vetted and go through an extensive psych evaluation before being allowed to be parents. Follow-up checks should also be conducted to ensure the child is happy and healthy and safe. The fact that disgusting PoS' like these can breed wily-nily only to abuse a helpless infant is terrifying. I hope the child has been taken into protective custody.

I find this immensely upsetting and hope measures are taken so there can be no repeat of this. To me, this is more disturbing than a stressed parent losing their rag and smacking or screaming at the child.
This couple has a sadistic streak which is liable to become more extreme leading to severe injury or even death.
I am pleased to see a daycare worker brought this up as we have seen a blind eye turned before resulting in tragic endings.
