The last two paragraphs tell how deep this corruption goes to the heart, the top of the LDP led government.

These are the people tasked to run Japan? I fear for Japan.

Corruption and complacency starts to creep in with any government that is in power for a long time, given how long the LDP have been in power I am almost tempted to say it is amazing there is not a lot more, or have they just become very well practiced at hiding it?

From their broad smiles I guess they know they don't too much to worry about. Slap on the wrist with suspended sentences no doubt .

Spot on mate.

In power for pretty much all of the 70+ years since end of WW2, you bet they are masters at hiding it.

Dont let it get to you. It's been this way for at least a generation or two, and people here on JT have been "fearing" for Japan for decades.

Abe and Akie next?

20 ( +24 / -4 )

Abe. Guilty. Fraud.

tell us news we don’t know………

9 ( +13 / -4 )

They say that when you find one gokiburi, there are another 30 waiting to be caught. It's the same with the LDP. Isn't there anyone who can stand up to this continual corruption?

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Abe. Guilty. Fraud.

You forgot about the guy who forced to cover up and then committed suicide.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

Fall guys?

This was the school that tried to teach Japanese militaristic education (the crazy brainwash crap that sent innocent lives to war)…

evil people trying to brainwash the next generation of Japan!!

Everything about the former Abe Administration was nothing but corrupt. He's still on the taxpayers' payroll traveling through countries for this current administration. He should be in jail.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

I think calling it cronyism is too complimentary. The headline should call it what it is: corruption.

They look pretty happy in the photo.

They can laugh all the way to prison.

They look pretty happy in the photo.

They can laugh all the way to prison.

They've probably been told they'll be looked after if they keep quiet about who the real criminals are.

Abe also responsible for putting in motion Japan's current defense budget policy, but of course no corruption there...

They look pretty happy in the photo.

Maybe they know something we don't know?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Standard operating procedure in Japan.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Abe is the puppet master of Kishida

7 ( +8 / -1 )

The Kagoikes biggest crime was that they made the Abes look bad.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

There is a TV show on Netflix called "The Journalist" starring Yonekura Ryoko and it is this story exactly. Of course it was not made by a major TV studio or they too would suffer from the hand of Abe. But it is really well made and will make your blood boil when you see how callous they are about people's lives etc.

same with the LDP? that's exactly what the LDP are.

The couple was arrested in July 2017 after Moritomo Gakuen was revealed to have purchased the land in Toyonaka the previous year for 134 million yen, despite the land being valued at 956 million yen.

This is the real point but they're being done on an alternative corruption charge to distract from it? Why is nobody answering who agreed this sale and why?

And no mention of the Akagi files? The man committed suicide because of this, the rot goes all the way up. Sagawa and the files know exactly who gave the order.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

No jail time I suppose, but trample on some bushes and it's a different story....

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Now that they have sentences, why aren't they rolling over and singing about Mr. Abe's involvement? You know, cut a deal and save their skins? Provide state's evidence in exchange for a suspended sentence?
