But on Tuesday, judge Hajime Hashimoto reportedly advised Darvish that what should change are his actions, not his name.

Yeah, true, but can't blame the guy for wanting to keep his family out of the spotlight. I'll bet if he was just some regular guy running an office pool the cops wouldn't have gone to such trouble to convict him.

I'll also bet that one of his friends probably got pissed off at losing and said something too.

"Sho Davsish himself bet roughly 220 million yen ($2.2 million) on the games, Kyodo said." whoa that devil has a lot of bread to play with.

So he was running the book and placing bets with himself? How is that supposed to work? If he wins he pays himself money he already has? Or was there a third party that would pay out his winnings, one that we are told was not involved?

Sport seems to be becoming more and more corrupt.

"handing him a suspended prison sentence"

People who are surprised raise your hand.

I do like this last part, though.

Sho Darvish also ended up receiving a suspended sentence after being arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana and assaulting a woman back in 2011. It looks to me like he isn't learning his lessons.

In. Japan it is illegal. In Nevada, if you are not a professional team player, you can bet at sport booking service section in any casinos that ha sport betting service. In Japan, no one will try to create own gambling business. He was lucky he was arrested. Gambling business traditionally belonged to yakuza. His brother just made Rangers won Al W play off spot.

So in fact he was running a sports book. If he hadn't been connectedm he'd go inside. He's lucky that the connected sports bookie in his area didn't get wind of his operation.
