Often, pd plants a. mole in Yak office to gather info. She resigned. But we don't know why she was active that many days. PD got enough info that female mole was forced to resign.

I am not trying to defend the young woman's actions. Her life is young. She will develop character traits from this painful learning experience and grow from it. She may have thought after seeing his tattoos and possibly a missing finger. He may had been out and trying to go on the straight and narrow in the beginning. Just trying to create another look on this. Who really knows. We need more facts and I hope her story will be told.

We all lose a bit of sanity when we fall for someone. But this is how criminals operate. He got a foot in the door and he exploited her on behest of his boss or bosses. Because no matter what the family comes first for these groups and has for centuries. Shame. But recoverable. Chin up girl!

Women gets the tingles when they meet a real bad boy...they are surrounded by boring, beta male conformist dweebs all day, so when a genuine alpha baddie who conveys a "I really don't give a fig about what others think of me" vibe they are attracted

Can't say I've ever been attracted to or by the 'bad boy,' 'I don't care,' 'testosterone to the top of me head' types. 'There's more than just sawdust and blue sky between these ears' - now that's a vibe I can work with.

A man's gotta have enough brain cells to at least keep a conversation going, and someone with that many brain cells does give a fig, and doesn't get involved in gangs, yaks and general pseudo-alpha stupidity.

Very misleading headline. It should be edited. She lost her job due to leaking information. The headline reads like she lost her job because she was dating a gang member which isn't the case.

Ok, so you find "bad boys" attractive, that's your type and fair play to you for admitting it but it's not the case for all women. Just like all men are not automatically either alphas, betas, bad or good.

Humanity is much more diverse and complex than that. As is love/attraction.

Dumb! Just dumb! Why the heck would she date a Yak anyway? He was pestering her to go out with him. She should have put him on the stalker’s list. Then, she started revealing information about his case? Dumb! Just plain dumb!

Agentsx@ by what rationale is a cop dating a gangsta not a ‘sirens should be blaring’ conflict of interest?

Strawman argument. You would need a whole lot of inside information to know if it was even 'a conflict of interest', as you say, let alone that she was actually breaking any particular law by forming a casual relationship with him.

The girl made a bad decision, got involved with someone and regretted it, was then extorted by him and has now been found 'guilty' by extension (for simply knowing someone personally) on top of the the actual crime that she admitted to of giving inside information (while under duress).

It's basically saying that if I trawl through your personal life and find that a relative, brother, friend or ex has some type of criminal record - you are at fault, should lose your job and be publicly shamed.

Sorry bud, but I don't think that is cool.

Looks like this yakuza tried to 'infiltrate' (so to speak) the local PD.

I feel sorry for her. At a young age was thrown into the dark side and, as we do, fell in love. But she was betrayed by her lover and the police. Both sides. I hope she has some support. 23 years is still young.

"she contacted him in October from an official mobile phone and started dating the man from late November after being repeatedly asked out, they said."

Well she was too hot to trot, now baby

Well, you're too hot to trot now, baby

The things that you do

The things that you say

In the strangest way

"she was charged with a breach of confidentiality in violation of the local public service law."

what a price to pay.

Agentsx@ by what rationale is a cop dating a gangsta not a ‘sirens should be blaring’ conflict of interest? Now the poor wee thing is being extorted. Two separate and unrelated facts? Pull the other one mate.

“Oh, shut up silly woman” said the reptile with a grin. “You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in.”

At least she didn't take up with a bar host.

She was set up. The Yaks found out she was working in a section that had information on them, targeted her, got some Romeo type guy to pursue her, she fell for it, and boom, her career is done. Many people might say, what was she thinking, but if she was lonely and made to feel special, she never thought she was being made a patsy for the Yaks.

I find it really hard to believe someone would bother "setting up" a fresh officer to end her career. Evidently she was groomed and later blackmailed with the hopes of obtaining information or have an inside source, but I seriously doubt this is part of an organized effort to wittle down the constabulary by seducing them one by one.

Dating even a known criminal is not a criminal offense in and of itself. Her private life should be her private life - if she is adhering to the law. It's not up to you and I to judge who is a suitable love-interest for her. Only in Japan - where you are guilty by extension and publicly shamed by personal opinion, is it such a big problem.

The girl did nothing wrong up to a point in time, but was then extorted. She made an unlawful decision under pressure in an attempt to deal with her problem (don't tell you have never broken any law!) and now she is paying for it. As usual in Japan though, the punishment does not fit the crime.

Aly dude...just call me "maybe" lol

I think many on here believe she knew the guy was a bad un. Perhaps she only found out he was a yak later. Anyway, she done what she thought was the honourable thing and resigned. ( so she can't be that bad eh?)

And as toasted said... we've all made mistakes in the past. Otherwise nobody would have any ex's right?

BTW...ex police myself. Medically retired through injury. Exemplary conduct but definitely...most definitely made some real bloopers in my time. Sometimes you need to made decisions that seem right at the time. But later...well you know.

The officer left the man after he started to ask her for money in January, the police said.

Alright, thank you for all of the info you have given us. Now hook me up with 1 million yen. Remember, I know where you live.

Ah, yes. The ol' Good girls go for bad boys. If you're wondering why men don't treat women with respect, it's because women go for the ones who DON'T treat them with respect. The nice guys finish last.

Or maybe some of the so-called "nice" guys tend to generalise about women based on a bad experience or two in their formative dating days?

Maybe some women pick up on the barely concealed hostility and inability to relate and decide they'd rather not date someone with so many hang ups.

Just an opinion. Others are available.

Nothing nothing unusual here, plenty of law enforcement people in Japan are "in bed with the Yaks"

3 ( +5 / -2 )

These guys are snakes. What was she thinking?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

We've not all been police, though!

Aye but police are fallible, too.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Who here honestly hasn't, at one point in their life, dated someone unsuitable? We were all young, once.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

She doesn’t have the judgment required of a police officer so she needed to go.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Very unprofessional behavior by the officer and her punishment is well deserved. Her leaking may even net her some jail time

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Agree with mark and maybeperhapsyes (wish your name was easier to type)

However, as a police officer, she should have known that it was a conflict of interest to date a Yak from the get go. I get how many policewomen may be lonely due to the nature of the job, but she still should have know better from the get go. Before she even started seeing him.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I would agree in large with MarkX.

We have all been suckered by the love bug at sometime in our lives. I know I have.

These gangs know exactly what they are doing and she fell for the oldest trick in the book. Nothing to say she was a bad cop. Shame she lost her job over it.

It is the basis of law. It is the same with any organized crime, everywhere. You know more than half government are made up by scum, who commit crime, some even on a daily matter. The nation knows it, the forces now it, no one can do anything until there is evidence against them. Because if people start lynch all the scum (even presumable ones) without evidence, humanity will cease to exist. Only a wretched species of lynching mammals will remain. The villains keep smiling and roam the streets at day, and commit crimes at night. Only 1/3 of them gets caught, while everyone knows there is something wrong with 9/10 of them. And the victims just keep in coming. This is the basis of law.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Wow! Talk about sleeping with the enemy!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

is this the only country in the world where the police have names, addresses and phone numbers of mob headquarters and never raid them?

You have to understand the law HERE. There is nothing illegal about the Yakuza having an office, and they have the right to exist under Japanese law.

Their activities are another matter altogether.

She had some wrong values then if the simply "fell in" with a "Romeo" type of guy, "MarkX". Also if she was the one approached she must have had suspicions about what his true motives might be. That is common sense, more so for a public law enforcer.

Yeah, the dating was incidental, and not what cost her the job.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Tokyo police said it suspended a young officer from duty on Monday and referred her to prosecutors for allegedly leaking investigative information to a yakuza she had been dating.

Title of the article is very misleading, click bait!,

Suspended and resigned are two very different things, and she did not resign because of her relationship, she resigned because she passed along information she should not have, HUGE difference.
