Police in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 55-year-old woman for fatally beating her 83-year-old mother with a kettle at their home.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Nobuko Inagaki, repeatedly beat her mother on the head with a filled metal water kettle in the heat of an argument at around 10 a.m. on Sunday, and then called police herself. Inagaki's mother Yuri was taken to hospital where she died six hours after the attack, police said.
Police quoted Inagaki as saying she had become enraged during a dispute and come up behind her mother and struck her violently on the head.

kaimycahl, nothing is wrong.. it happened once and is very rare otherwise you'd see the same type of headline 15 times a day continuously or it would be soo common, it wouldn't even make the news.

It doesn't matter what might have been said, it could never justify murder.

What a sick woman...just walk out and leave! Go kick something if you have to. No need to kill...

Psychological torture can be as destructive as any physical abuse.
As others have observed, killing isn't the answer. However, elderly parents, parents of any age, can be abusive. Again, that does not condone Inagaki's actions.
What this case should prompt is an awareness, in a country where elderly parents are so common, of the need for counseling for adult caretakers. Yes, there are break downs and breaking points and the idea that this is a drama of a crazed attack misses the real point. Adult caretakers have special needs the same as parents of any age and that can be managed and understood.

Taking care of the elderly is highly stressful. It seems that whatever the local and j-gov were doing to help isn't working so well considering the number of these types of reports. That's why is some countries, the kids just hand their parents to nursing homes. Remember to treat you kids well or someday.....

"I guess in Japan..." JT throws up a lot of these crime reports. They're just space fillers. Yes, I clicked on it. I shouldn't have. There is nothing much one can do with this information. If you're going to draw conclusions then you'll need to provide the data, links, context that is lacking in the report. Otherwise there is no reason at all to consider what you say.

Wow! Whats wrong with parental relationships kids killing their parents. I have always heard the old saying by parents that I brought you into this world so I can take you out. I guess in Japan the saying is you brought me into this world but I will take you out. Is there that much hate between mother father son and daughter. She beat her mother down worse than Helen Keller.
