Dead baby found in bag of man arrested for trespassing

A man in his 30s was arrested for trespassing on Wednesday in Mitaka City, and a dead baby was found in the bag he was carrying, police said Thursday.

Police received a call at around noon from a resident saying there was an unknown man in the apartment building. Officers rushed to the scene. An officer searched the bag that the man was carrying and found a dead baby inside, of unknown sex due to its body being badly decomposed.

Police said the man was vague in his statements and said they will conduct an autopsy to confirm the baby's cause of death.

Is JT on a one-a-day child abuse article run recently? I'm interested in how newsworthy the editorial staff think this kind of thing is... .

Officers rushed to the scene.

Really? no, REALLY? Rushed because there was an unkown man there?

We were going good for a couple of days and this dumb ass comes and ruins everything. What the hell is wrong with these people! It doesn't say he killed the baby or not, but he should burn in hell for carrying around like his lunch. My prayers go out to this child.

He will possibly be charged with "Attempting to abandon a body" or public mischief. 3 year good behaviour bond. R.I.P. baby.

I'm trying not to jump the gun here and scream child abuse. How did the baby die? Is the man mentally ok (no joke here). I mean if the baby was badly decomposed he must have been carrying the corpse for sometime. There must be some attachment to the baby otherwise why wouldn't he just throw the corpose a be rid of the problem?

he should burn in hell for carrying around like his lunch

Gurukun, yes agree that a guy who's carrying a corpse like his lunch should be punished, but let's see howthe news pans out, if he di it knowingly in good mind yes, but what if he's mentally unstable from grief and just didn't want to let go? Give the man the benefit of doubt until we see the whole news.

We all know he will at least be spared punishment for abandoning the body. This guy is at least following the law in that respect.

according to Sankei newspaper, the baby died around 5 to 6 years ago shortly after the birth. the baby boy (yes, boy) died and his mother kept the body for awhile but gave the body to his father, the guy. he told the police that he has been carrying the bag all the time. and the guy was standing in the women's dorm building and that was why women in the dorm called the police. i'm guessing that the baby boy wasn't born at a hospital, wasn't well cared for as he died shortly after the birth, the parents were not married and did not have enough money for funeral, either.. it's just sad.

@magpie-Thanks for the comment. Yes, I really want to see follow up reports on this. I feel so bad for the baby being stuffed into a bag. No human being, abd baby at that, should be reated like that.

University of Tokyo Mitaka International Students Dormitory is where the guy was at... wonder what he was thiking about doing there..

Look, let's not jump to conclusions just yet. One thing that we can say beyond a reasonable doubt is that the man is not entirely well. Beyond that, we know nothing. It would seem easy to say he was lingering around the area to canvass a place to ditch the body, and perhaps that's the case -- I certainly would like to think the man hasn't been carrying the baby around like that for a while. BUT, that's another possibility, and if that's the case perhaps it was a loved one the man lost and for mentally unstable reasons he could not let go of.

Either way, i hope they find out why the man was carrying around the corpse of a baby, and he's punished accordingly.

Oops! Didn't see Fishy's comment. Guess I wasn't far off the ball. Agree the whole situation is a sad affair.

How very sad.

let's not jump to comclusions but:

1) he carried a baby corpse around with him 2) he was loitering around a girls dorm and freaked people enough to call the cops

that is one person I do not want around me. THAT much I know for a fact.

note to self: don't bring infant son's decomposed corpse with me when trespassing.

OMG....before i rant and rave there is a giant piece of this puzzle missing...how did this infant die for starters...but if this guy did murder the baby i would just take him out the back and end him sound mind or not.

Good thing you're not a barbarian or neanderthal, then.

How horrible. (no other words...)

smithinjapan, thanks for the colour. My first thoughts were exactly as you said. The trauma of losing a loved one can cause people to do somecrazy things. If that were the case, i have sympathy for this man. As a father of four, I don't know what i would do if I lost any of my children. Bury them yes I would, but I don't know if could ever get over the loss.

A corpse five or six years into decomposition isn't going to yield much in the way of information regarding how it died.

The defense isn't going to have a hard time showing the guy is mentally disturbed.

What a disturbing and sad story...

Agree with kokoro..How sad and depressing!

Sounds like a mental case. I wouldn´t be sure they ever get to the bottom of this.
