Dead cat, bird found on department store escalator in Kashiwa

Police said Tuesday that a dead cat and a dead pigeon were found on an escalator in a department store in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture.

According to police, the discovery was made by a shopper at about 8:20 p.m. on Monday. The cat and bird were on an escalator which connects the 3rd and 4th floors of Kashiwa-takashimaya Station Mall, Fuji TV reported.

On Jan 10, the same incident happened in the same store, police said. In that case, one cat and two dead birds were found on the escalator.

Police said they are examining in-store surveillance camera footage to try and identify the person or persons who brought the animal's bodies into the store.

Maybe Bird Flu and Cat Flu?

Looks like there's a sicko in Kashiwa.

Maybe sacrifices to the shopping gods.

It might be the work of a former employee. Hopefully, video from the surveillance camera will shed more light on the identity of the perp.

It's all sounding like 'the Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly'....... next they'll find a dog on the escalator.

Could be dead people next.

A dead cat among dead pigeons? Somebody could coin a new idiom out of this.

Let's hope they catch the culprit. Nobody wants escalation like that of the kid in Kobe some years back.

@Balefire

It was also my first reaction upon seeing the title of this article... That's exactly how it started in the Kobé affair.

Murder suicide?

Could be close. Just poison the bird and wait for the cat to attack it and die too.

They really should do a screen for poisons, because if any are in the animals it could affect children that touch it too. And if it is poison, when they catch the person responsible they shouldn't let him off with a slap on the wrist.

So this is what you get in Jp news?

Reporting things like this in the news probably gives the person who is doing this more motivation to keep doing this or advance to a higher level of sick acts.

Obviously a titanic struggle for survival between the two, no doubt ranging across the store and culminating in mutual destruction at the top of the escalator. There's a seat at the top table in pigeon heaven for the little birdy......he...he...faught bravely.
