Using the term “urge” with Japanese bureaucrats is about as effective as using the words “wish” or “hope”. Unfortunately, this too will fall in deaf ears amongst their stoic faces.

Immigration is killing detainees every year with impunity.
Why all this violence?!
Why all this negligence?!
Is ever gonna change?

Monsters, but even worse how the government protect these elements.
A few months ago in Italy they found a footage of some prison guards in a facility beating the prisoners.
Well, the video got public with the consent of the government and each of these guards got dismissed from their job and criminally charged, plus the victims got moral and economic compensation.
This is how a modern and just democracy deal when people that suppose to protect abuse their powers.
But this is Japan so I won’t expect much from this.

Dead Sri Lankan's sister urges Japan immigration to accept responsibility
Japan's bureaucrats (and culture) can never accept responsibility for anything.

Hasn't the family filed a law suit? While under Japanese law there is no Discovery process, it does allow the Court to secure evidence on the grounds that it may be lost or destroyed. The complete video could be secured by the court as evidence.
There is clearly a need to prosecute members of Immigration for this death.

I recall reading a few weeks ago on here that some of the officers responsible for her death had been verbally reprimanded or something like that and the government was presenting that as if the matter had been completely addressed.
Its outrageous,I wish the sister all the best in her fight to get justice.

No way she could get her wish. This is Japan. Just move on and Let your sister rest in peace.

I'll eat my hat if anything good comes out of this.

JT it would have been nice if you could have given us a link to the petition so we too could sign it!

This is becoming a pain.
Japan should cut the losses and stop anything to do with this.

Just move on and Let your sister rest in peace.
could you let your family member left in peace if you knew the people who effectively killed them!?

Japan should cut the losses and stop anything to do with this.

Strangerland
Right?! What a ridiculous idea.

JT, the title of this article could have been changed to show a bit more compassion don’t you think?
“Sister of dead Sri Lankan” could have been written as “Sister of Wishma…” Most readers would know her babe now.
I hope this will lead to more accountability, oversight and change in the system up there, in-line with how Japanese themselves would wish to be treated if they were in the same position if overseas.

Correction to above
“Dead Sri Lankan’s sister” could have been written as “Sister of Wishma…”
Most readers would know her ‘name’ now.

Please double check your visa status before your arrival at Japan or any other countries!
no visa people aren’t supposed to travel counties where requires visa to entry. Those ppl have to know they are illegal aliens and not welcomed.
Also please think one more time if you travel illegally, it means you will give extra stupid problems to the other countries!
DO not break LAWS!!
OBEY the LAWS!!

@Majidetekitouittenna
Wishma was not purposefully breaking immigration laws. Her abusive boyfriend forced her in that situation.
The immigration agents did break the law, the most basic human rights and medical instructions were ignored and the minimum humanity wasn't shown to Wishma even afer her death.
