From what we know about the story up to now, no that is definitely his first and only.

Ugh, like an episode of the Twilight Zone or a short story by Kafka.

This plays out like a grisly sequel to Auditon. At least no piano wires were involved...

Some additional information from Japanese language media:
The grandfather was incredibly candid and added the following information. Runa rarely attended school when she was young and had issues communicating with people. She did enjoy cosplaying and met Ura at a cosplaying event. Ura liked to cosplay as a female and Runa became a friend him without realizing he was a man. Runa apparently had a deep mistrust of men and avoiding speaking to them. At some point they ended up staying in the same hotel and during the night Ura allegedly sexually assaulted Runa. Destressed and angered by this she told her parents what had happened. The family then decided to hatch a plan to kill and behead the victim with Runa and her father planning and buying items for the murder. The mother has now also been accused of being a coconspirator.
Terrible and sad case, seems like everyone was a victim and perpetrator of bad decisions.

Mental illnesses and disorders can have traumatic or physiological causes. Are you aware of anxiety disorders such as phobias. For some they can be debilitating to the point that people can't function normally. These can be treated with systematic desensitization and completely cure these people of the anxiety so that they never experience that anxiety again.
And what about physiological diseases and illnesses. How many can be cured? You'd be surprised how many can't be cured but just treated.
FireyRei
That comment right there demonstrates a lack of understanding of mental illness, which comes in a wide variety of manifestations from mild to severe. Calling anyone suffering from a mental illness a ‘nutcase’ is both ignorant and disrespectful. To add, Japan has an incredibly high rate of suicide which is strongly linked to depression, a mental illness itself. Further, simply having lived in Japan almost two decades, as well as being around Japanese people three decades, I firmly concur that mental illness in Japan is just as prevalent as most other countries.

What is going on with these people?

Great. Show us one clinical case of someone cured. Just one.
I can cite endless that validate mental illness cannot be cured, only treated so the patient may be able to function. You can't cite a single, bona fide example. It would be a Nobel Prize winning event.

That could explain the murder but the cutting off of the head and taking it home just doesn't fit into those scenarios. This case is genuinely nuts.

Mental/psychological illness can have a physiological origin or cause. In some cases depending on the cause, they can be cured.
Not all physiological illnesses and diseases can be cured. They have to be treated as well for example cancer. The notion that regular doctors only cure while psychiatrists only treat is ludicrous.
Psychiatrists are doctors (MDs) that often specialize in the brain and nervous system as well as medications used to treat or cure patients. They are doctors.
Maybe you should look it up and get informed.

Even psychiatrists say they cannot cure mental illness, they can only treat it. A patient can be cured of cancer. No one is ever cured of a mental illness, they can only be treated in the hope of functioning with their illness.
Again, look it up. You apparently did not do that.

See the above.

Like I said in a previous article:
My suggestion is the old man was leveraging something against the father or the young woman. It could of been money or information. Most murders are crimes of passion or financially connected followed by blackmail and simple accidents (negligence). Then she had enough or could not go through with sex and killed the old man. The parents out of concern for their daughter's fate and possible family embarrassment because the father is famous decided to help their daughter cover it up.
Now the whole family is going down instead of only the daughter.

Mental illness?
Get out, walk around and take the train-plenty to see
Ronin Tsukebin
My guess is this. The father dressed up as a woman to meet his victim who might even be a rival. He killed him to get him out of the picture. I just don't see the daughter, who apparently is very quiet and and sequestered, doing the killing. Can't see it at all. I am guessing the father was "doing" the daughter and wanted to remove the other guy from the picture. The wife found out and that's why the father could not stay in the house and why he was in his car, etc. all the time.

Psychiatrists cure people.

And you have added yourself to the list of those who are uninformed, or should I say, uneducated. So in reality it's 19 who "know" vs 2 (you and Bertie) that dont.
Psychiatrists have to get an Md before they can study in their field of specialty, they can and do proscribe medication for their patients. You are woefully uninformed yourself here.
As noted, my cardiologist treats my heart, but he also gives me medicine for my stomach as well, so by your logic, he is committing malpractice, because he is treating something that is not related to my heart.

I just wanna know:
WHERE did the knife come from??? She entered the love hotel with him so there was some consent for something. I'm just going to assume she already had a knife on her because I have yet to see knives in love hotels here and I have been to a lot of them. A LOT.
WHY did she stab him multiple times? The original article stated "the cause of death as hemorrhagic shock and that Ura's head was severed after his death." Maybe to make sure he was dead, but what was the motive? Did she honestly think she would get away with it? There are cameras pretty much everywhere in hotels in Japan.
WTF was her dad thinking? I know she's an adult and he can't control what she does but dropping her off at a love hotel in the middle of the night? Nah, I'd never do that. I'd never drop my daughter off at a love hotel. THEN, he picked her back up? Most people I know are sleeping at 2:00am. What was the conversation during that phone call she placed to him or was this all planned from the beginning?**I can kinda understand why the police arrested the mom; she's part of the family and is most likely to be the first to crack and confess something. Japan is still and always will be about getting that confession.

This is a very weird and dark story and for once I can understand the J media are obsessed with it.

They only 'treat' cancer as well. By your logic, we can't call oncologists doctors.

I think you may be having the wool pulled over your eyes a little here. You are quoting official figures. It is common knowledge that, due to the stigma attached, the vast majority of mental health issues go unreported and therefore undocumented in Japan, rendering these figures meaningless.

BertieWoosterToday 05:49 pm JST
Bertie is right. Psychiatry can only treat mental illness. Mental illness cannot be cured.
19 people so far have shown themselves to be woefully uninformed. You can look it up to become informed.
travelbangaijin
This sound similar to an event in America with Gabby Petito murder where the killer parents involved themselves in covering up their child actions

Japan Today : I can understand that:
if "The body of a decapitated man is found, he must be dead."
But I cannot understand how:
The body of a decapitated man is found dead.
Because: without a head, a man cannot be alive.
falseflagsteve
These murders seem to get more bizarre by the week don’t they. What a ghastly crime to commit, I find it very upsetting.

Congratulations Roy! You found the dumbest proof ever. A non peer-reviewed non-replicated report authored by three Japanese nationals in the journal of The Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology which claims that Japanese have a superior gene and they are somehow superior than the whole world.
Hmm. Sounds plausible. LOL
Not to mention that almost the whole paper is based on self-reported surveys.
Even the authors hint at that this is bullcrap. But yeah. There always were, always will be deniers of reality.
The later Japan realizes that millions of hikikomoris are not normal, the worse the mental state of the general population gets.

@BertieWooster
You realize that a psychiatrist is an MD: medical doctor.
nosuke
that sex hotel gonna be haunted hotel
Jonathan Prin
Decapitation and concluding hemorragic shock.
Explanation needed : either the decapitation created the shock or it could have have been earlier to other parts of body. It needs to be precised to have an idea of the the type of mental crime made.
Yrral
Nihon, this doctor should get his own head examine, him being a mental health professional, should known better

There are probably more heads laying around , this is not his first.

SICK SICK SICK and SICK.

zactly - why keep it. other than changing clothes when leaving the hotel (which she probably only changed cos it would have been quite a mess), the whole family doesnt seem too smart in trying to cover their steps...dad/daughter buying a suitcase and knife weeks prior, their car tracked on cctv all the way home, loads of cooler boxes outside....doesnt really make much sense
Hiro
Not sure why the hell the daughter kept the head for weeks. She could have easily buried it somewhere in the mountain or burn it. Why would anyone keep evidence of their crime around? As a trophy? If so, then that girl has some serious mental issue.
Yrral
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor,he can prescribe drugs and treat mental illness,a psychologist can counsel mental ill,but cannot prescribe drugs
Seesaw7
It's like something out of an old horror movie where a mad doctor needs a human head for his experiment, so he sends his daughter out to seduce some unsuspecting victim.
@Garypen. LOL.

Some psychiatrist. LOL I think the whole family needs a psychiatrist including the psychiatrist!!!!
Elvis is here
omg. How grizzly is that? I hope justice is swift and erm fair..!?
Gaijinjland
Was he a psychiatrist for the criminally insane and, if he was, was his daughter also one of his patients?
BertieWooster
The headline says he was a doctor, but he is a psychiatrist. Totally different things! Doctors cure people.
Sven Asai
That whole family is quite an exceptional case, isn’t it? What psychiatrists need most is now obvious, they first of all need a psychiatrist themselves. lol
Yrral
Lots of his mental patient, should ask for a refund
tokyo-star
so the wife was arrested too, was she also involved? according to some comments on yahoo, the hubby and wife were on the best of terms and he was often seen sleeping outside in the car

Wow, heard some weird stories over the years, and this one is right up at the top!

Dead Head Found. Interesting. Japan.

It's just so strange and ghastly. It's like something out of an old horror movie where a mad doctor needs a human head for his experiment, so he sends his daughter out to seduce some unsuspecting victim. Poor guy.
Sometimes, truth really is stranger than fiction.
