Dominatrix arrested for practicing medicine without a license

On Oct 4, a 43-year-old brothel manager named Yuka Fujisawa was arrested by Kyoto prefectural police for “practicing medicine without a license.” And, before you ask, no, she wasn’t wearing a sexy nurse uniform and giving customers “physicals.” The dominatrix was sticking needles in gentlemen’s genitals for money.

To be clear, Fujisawa’s “needle play” was performed on consenting adults, so her arrest is purely for the act of drawing blood without a medical license. This is the same law that was used to arrest a body piercer in 2006 after a client complained when their bleeding wouldn’t stop following a procedure.

This isn’t Fujisawa’s first arrest, as she was also taken into custody on allegations of drawing blood and applying sutures to three men’s genitals in a hotel in Osaka between June and September. This previous arrest occurred after photos of the needle play were posted on her blog, and she was charged with displaying “obscenity” via electronic media. As the photos provided evidence of her illegal activities, the police searched her house, where scalpels, needles, and surgical books were also found.

Though both of Fujisawa’s arrests have been recent, the dominatrix has been offering her poking services for about eight years, according to the police report. Apparently, she started offering the service at a client’s request all those years ago and, finding that she didn’t mind seeing blood, decided the profession suited her.

If legality is a reason for patients not to seek medical attention, then it should be legalized.

Don't hold your breath. I'm not the one making Japanese laws, ear piercing in ear ring shops is not allowed in this country, nor are cosmetic injections by beauticians, you are supposed to go to hospital for everything that causes a hole or cut in your skin.

I suppose consenting adults can do what they like to one another and it's none of my business. However, once we had a student who was self-harming and in that case he needed treatment for mental illness. I would argue that anyone who enjoys harming themselves or being harmed by others is also mentally ill and needs medical help.

Yeah, but if they don't, do they get hit with charges of practicing medicine without a license for letting blood?

@ControlFreak that applies in Japan. In the US it is still a different story and the US department of health has something to say about piercing/cutting anyones skin without sticking to acceptable procedures for aseptic techniques that the department of health has to make sure is being followed. These measures are in place for both the client and the proprietor so nobody will get sick off the other.

And with needles, its not the blood being let that is the problem. Its the blood being injected into another person that is the problem.

Um, no. Just no. Once again proper aseptic technique requires that 1. the environment is sterile. 2. both the client and the proprietor must take measures to avoid the chances of infections of any kind from spreading around. Believe it or not all it takes is a small cut or bruise someone doesn't notice on themselves and then contact with another person's bodily fluids in the right place to share a disease or infection.

I know this article does not take place in a hospital but even worse it takes place in a business with multiple clientel going in and out that do not have to take anything more than a condom. Not even an STD check is required...

Its enough of an issue that tattoo parlors and piercing shops have to be verified and licensed to assure that they use sterile instruments before piercing anyone's skin.

Yeah, but if they don't, do they get hit with charges of practicing medicine without a license for letting blood?

And with needles, its not the blood being let that is the problem. Its the blood being injected into another person that is the problem. Is there so much concern about feces? Cause you could run a scat service, but if anyone got injected with it it could be deadly. Ingestation could lead to hepatitis.

That's an assumption that many people make, but is in fact, false. I've worked in clinical environments in both hospital and research settings. I was also a clinical safety trainer for 4 years. Blood is NOT considered a major biohazard, as it's a very inefficient vector for disease.

This is how you can get your ears pierced in a shopping mall by an unlicensed teenager. As long as the instruments have been adequately cleaned, the risk is minimal.

Of course, I've no idea if this particular entrepreneur was using rubbing alcohol or an autoclave. :-P

You are so wrong on so many points that it isn't worth addressing. WOW

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@exexpat, well it is considered enough of a biohazard in my work environment where should a spill/cut/piercing happen we have to use bleach 1/10 water to clean up any of it from another person. Its enough of an issue that tattoo parlors and piercing shops have to be verified and licensed to assure that they use sterile instruments before piercing anyone's skin.

I don't know what laws you've been working under depending on what country you live in now. But I've been taught that in the US direct contact with blood from another person is considered a potential biohazard.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Wow, I can't even imagine wanting to volunteer for something like that. And these guys were paying for it? What people get up to! Ouch!

Because she is illegal, her "patients" could wait too long to go to a hospital in case their "parts" don't heal normally.

@Cos--Two wrongs still don't make a right. If legality is a reason for patients not to seek medical attention, then it should be legalized. A hell of a lot more could go wrong with BDSM than what you describe what with gags, whips, chains, straps, etc.

But all this panic about a little blood is way over the top.

I'm all for consenting adults doing what they please in private, but in all fairness such desires have to be registered fairly high on the WTF'o'Meter.....

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Sick...

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

She pulls blood out of men... She's like a vampire or a mosquito ?

Depends what you call a risk. I've tested for you in my silly teens, I was doing our ear piercings... at school. That was clean as that's single use, so no HIV nor hepatitis scare. But for any piercing or cutting, you can get inflammation, continuing bleeding... But that's easily arranged if you get medical care immediately. People are not shy about showing their ears. Because she is illegal, her "patients" could wait too long to go to a hospital in case their "parts" don't heal normally.

Dominatrix

Just wondering how many of us had to Google search the word

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

genitalist! (new medicine specialization?)

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Wait. You need a license to be a dom?? I'm really wondering what the licensing procedure is.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Not my thing but not my business. Not your business. Not the government's business. And not the cops' business.

Why can't certain people learn to mind their own business when it comes to other people's sex lives? Just butt out!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I am a guy and there is no way I would consider ever doing this!!!! Needles being poked there!!! No way!!! The thought alone hurts!!!!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Puts a new slant on the old expression Nutjob don't it.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Life is good.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Well, hopefully this is the strangest thing I'll read today. I'll try to sleep tonight WITHOUT thinking about needles in my genitals.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

. In all medical facilities blood whether spilled, dripping, etc HAS to be in a sterilized environment.

Actually, the service she provides sounds much more pleasant than what I have to go through here in the office every day.

3 ( +2 / -0 )

This article reminds me of an old joke: "I'm only a part time gynecologist, but I'll look into it for you." Sorry ladies :D

0 ( +1 / -1 )

This is typical BDSM stuff... it happens in all countries. There's a movie called "Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist" which shows a guy who nailed his penis to a wooden board.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

What's it with this cracking down on the industry lately? :| Her customers might go coercing high school girls to pierce their nuts now :|

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"to stick needles in gentlemen's genitals" seriously, some people must really like that.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Ah, yes, Japan, Germany, etc...the Land o hentais, this is just as someone so kindly posted a proper time for WTF JAPAN!!?? Sick, weird, stupid, makes no sense but what the heck these are hentai Japanese in the land of hentai sexually perverted nut cases, so let me guess why the Japanese wives do not want to do anything with a sick, twisted husband that says, hey honey poke my kintama and make them bleed?? SICK!!

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

OK, first off, Ouch! But the cops' nascent enthusiasm in busting up the sex trade (don't forget yesterday's sex services for the elderly) would have been better directed at preventing death by an identified stalker.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

@HonestDictator

If the condition of your own skin is that blood can "seep into" your pores, I suggest you see a doctor, quickly....

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Don't blame her. Blame the celibate marriages!

Let's get it on, Japan!

Far from a Japanese problem. Genital piercings, like the infamous "Prince Albert", have been around in Western countries for ages, and if you go online and google "CBT sex" you'll find way worse than this. Personally I'm not a fan of pain, but some people get off on it.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I say if these men want their genitals sliced up, then let them. They are consenting adults, so no "harm" done I guess. Not for me though!

It would probably be illegal in most cases. Even if one was a doctor/surgeon. There is no harm done but there is also no benefit.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

"The dominatrix was sticking needles in gentlemen’s genitals for money."

WOW! To each his own. Being stuck with needles isn't my fetish, but, evidently, some people like it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Whats the purpose for needling that area? At least whats the claim?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The really weird thing is that you can rent DVDs with this sort of stuff on, along with rape videos and peeping at ladies on the toilet in my local Tsutaya, but you can't view genitalia. That really is messed up.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Nobody here seems to understand the implications of drawing and handling blood in the slightest. In all medical facilities blood whether spilled, dripping, etc HAS to be in a sterilized environment. Why you ask? Think blood born diseases. Think unsanitary conditions. AIDs and HIV ring a bell? And that is just a few of the major diseases that can be taken by getting someone elses blood on you and seeping into the pores of your skin. Even police officers (in my country) always wear latex/venyl gloves when handling a suspect that is bleeding.

Blood should always be considered a bio-hazard until proven safe and non-infectious to others.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

If two guys get in a fight and one guy gets a bloody nose, do they arrest the puncher for "drawing blood without a license?

Ridiculous law.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

I say if these men want their genitals sliced up, then let them. They are consenting adults, so no "harm" done I guess. Not for me though!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

where do I go now????

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Maria and motytrah

Not my cup of tea but what you say is true. But so many people want to believe that Japanese TV broadcasts tentacle porn 24 hours a day and there are used panty dispensing machines on every street corner. Perhaps the locals should say WTF hentai gaijin? :-)

Actually I hear some pretty eyebrow raising stuff about other countries in Asia and Europe. But so what? To each their own.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

You just can't make up a title like that.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I for one, can nut believe this.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

You could find a place like that in New York, London, Berlin, etc. This isn't something unique to Japan outside the creative charges from the police.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

BDSM? BD (Bondage and Discipline) DS (Dominance and Submission) SM (Sadism and Masochism).

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Great conversation starter though. I was "sew-sacked" the other day...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Oh, you're a naive bunch! Even the most barebones search of 'alternative/fetish' services for sexual gratification will turn up things much worse than this! Everyone has different tastes, pleasures, turnons and quirks, and as long as it doesn't involve coercion, unwilling partners or those unable to refuse, what's wrong with it?

13 ( +16 / -2 )

Speechless.... Who wakes up in the morning thinks to themselves hhmmm, I think I will hire someone to cut my sack open today and sew it back up.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I wonder which cop "accidentally" stumbled onto her blog?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Not arresting her the brothel management thing?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Wow "blown" away by this headline
