Hopefully the woman is wise and ditches him like he did to them.

Looking at the complete lack of consideration for the woman and child, it is at least fortunate the driver did not took them as hostages.

What kind of story is this?
Are they even the parents of the kid?
Was that even the guy's car?
Some basic details would help.

Why is this even making the news? Most kids i see in cars, aren’t sitting in a child seat and are not even buckled up, yet police never stops those.
i even saw a women driving with a newborn in a baby carrier strapped to her.
I always find this absolutely unbelievable, putting children’s safety in jeopardy.

If she was wise she would have had a child's seat and the child wouldn't have had its head out the car window!
The wise ship sailed a long time ago with this couple.

Perhaps he had something else to hide that would bring a greater penalty than the traffic stop.

Kids not having seatbelts and standing in cars or between the front seats is such a crazy thing in Japan. I see it daily and for whatever reason no one cares.
seems like the idea of physics and getting ejected from a car doesn’t get conveyed to drivers here.

All the man did by running off is delay his arrest by a few hours or at most a couple of days. He'll be caught and hauled off to jail soon enough.

LMFAO judgements being made about the driver, the details of this copy reporting are so sketchy from the report. Perhaps the women and the child were take as hostages and the cop so happen be in the vicinity during patrol and spotted the child head sticking out of the window from not being properly seated and because of this the cop wanted to ask the drive to stop. Knowing that he had done something illegal the man decided to run because of what he may have done or some other criminal activities he was involved in but was trying to hide. Perhaps the child could have been a victim of kidnap by both the man and the women and perhaps the man bailed there was no mentioning of who the child parents were.

Another nice guy story

Quite often I read about these sort of articles in the J news, it would apear on the whole that Japanese woman and men dont care for there children,

It is news because the driver fled a police stop, crashed his vehicle into another vehicle, and ran from his vehicle leaving a woman and child behind in it.
It is not news because a child wasn't properly restrained, even though that is why the police initially stopped the vehicle.

Similar to the way they let them run around in restaurants, stores, parking lots and other public places.

As it is in most places around the world.
As it is in most places around the world.
As it is in most places around the world.
You'd think they'd also know that running will make it much much worse for them...As it would in most places around the world.

What matters the most is that the driver fled, he's a coward and the cops need to catch him.

Must have freaked out, lol

By definition, the people you read about in the news are outliers. If they weren't, they wouldn't be in the news.
It's a massive failure in logic to judge the group as a whole based on the actions of the outliers.

Perhaps part of the reason I see usually law abiding Japanese fleeing (I have seen more than a few) from
traffic police is that there will most certainly be a fine at the end of any stop.
There is little advice or a friendly word but an attempt at a money gouge and the recording of an infraction.
Furthermore, any type of fine will lessen the validity of the driving licence and increase insurance premiums.
Not saying the driver here was right but drivers in Japan know what will occur when they see a flashing red light…
