Police in Moka, Tochigi Prefecture, have arrested a 22-year-old firefighter on charges of assault and theft after he was caught beating a woman and fleeing with cash he stole from her bag.
According to police, the incident occurred at 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Yuki Ryose, approached a woman in her car at a parking lot in the city, opened the door and asked her to lend him some money, Fuji TV reported. When she refused to do so, Ryose began kicking and beating her.
He then stole 40,000 yen from her bag and fled the scene, but the woman managed to chase after him and catch him with the help of a policeman, who arrested him on the spot.
Ryose was heavily drunk at the time of his arrest, police said.

Come on JT let's get going on a public servant crime section. There are enough stories weekly to have its own.

Firefighters, like police, should be held to higher standards. They shouldn't go around beating up women, drunk & asking for money. What a stupid guy.

All part of the job, ma'am. Think he'll do the shame crying routine that the big boys have mastered? Maybe he should be hosed.

I hope this slow poke learns to run a little faster if he's ever allowed to fight fires again.

Ah, and from the wonder news of the Olympics we are thrust back into the sobering reality of things back home. Hope he's stripped of his job and qualifications and even imprisoned for what he did.

Double the punishment if he was inebriated.

Even while completely, utterly hammered it has never even crossed my mind to try to beat a woman and rob her.
What is wrong with people?? What drives them to do this bizarre stuff?

His soon to be ex colleagues should take him outside and give him a thorough beating.
