Drunk gov't employee allegedly gropes woman on train, then molests her rescuer as well

Various Japanese news outlets are reporting that sometime after 10 p.m. on December 16, a drunk salary-man began inappropriately pressing himself against a woman and fondling her thighs on a train running between Ikebukuro Station and Hibarigaoka Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.

To make matters worse, when a second woman stepped in to intervene, he also began touching the lower half of her body.

The two women were fortunately able to work together to fend him off and call for backup. The man was arrested upon exiting the train.

The perpetrator has been identified as a man in his 60s who is employed by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. He is currently denying the charges against him by saying that he didn’t molest anyone. The Ministry has commented that they are currently investigating the details of the incident.

Japanese Internet users were far from impressed with the man, and they took to social media to express their disgust at his actions:

“He’s really dedicated to his lust.” “Is this some kind of erotic manga?” “The Ikebukuro Line is unmatched for this kind of stuff happening!” “Nothing can be done for him, LOL.” “I can’t believe he even went after the female knight who valiantly tried to protect the princess…”

I am sure "He was drunk at the time and doesn't remember anything" excuse will be used!

He is currently denying the charges against him by saying that he didn’t molest anyone.

Of course he is. Because, of course, 2 women have nothing better to do than to make up a story like this and complicate their own lives.

He probably was emboldened by the fact that, as he's already in his 60's, his pension is assured.

Should have kicked him in the "lower part of the body"

Hope he doesn't use the drunk excuse. Being drunk is not an excuse for anything.

Stern punishment is the best solution for these nasty men since they think themselves indomitable or influential enough to bypass legal action. In most cases they probably don't think about the after effects because of the arousal. When these offenders see they can get away from a scene after grouping they commit the crime again. Thus the number of offenders increase. So only strict enforcement of women-friendly laws can stop this menace. Social teaching on moral values isn't effective on this issue since the offenders aren't ashamed to be labeled criminals or perverts.

"The man was arrested upon exiting the train"

Well done to the women for reporting it!!

Sorry but this just made me LOL...

Strange he did not say venting stress ...

I think we all know the patter this will take: He's already denied it, so tomorrow he will say he may have done it but was drunk and doesn't remember (since it's enkai season people will nod in understanding about the drunk and stupid part), he'll apologize and pay some compensation money, he will receive a one month 10% reduction in pay, and beyond that he'll be completely protected.

What we most certainly WON'T see, again following a pattern, is the man's name reported (government employee!), the man punished beyond that above, the man jailed for assault, or the man actually being remorseful.

The only plus to all this besides him being caught is that we have seen to courageous victims come forward and take charge.

The two women were fortunately able to work together to fend him off and call for backup.

Given the above, I imagine he got undoubtedly dead drunk. Of course, there can be no excuse for molesting, surprisingly, the two women in a row.

Old boys' club will protect him - we've seen it time & time again here. Would be nice for the judges to make an example out of him, but we all know how this will turn out. 'Regrettable' with a slap on the wrist & off to a comfortable retirement he goes scot-free. Makes me sick to the stomach.

He's lucky. My (Japanese) wife and any one of her friends would have whipped his ass. This jiji pervert who works at the Internal Ministry would have needed internal surgery to remove all kinds of stuff from his rear. Try that i NYC and he probably exits the train in a body bag. No real men were on this train or what?

Doesn't Japan Inc know that this kind of behavior reflects badly on Japan? These perverts need to be punished!

Drunk or not the guy is old school oyaji. Once upon a time male bonding meant going together dead drunk to a bar and molesting the mamma san. I expect that at the LDP dominated ministies time has stood still. This old boy needs his day in court to see that times are changing.

Your tax yen at work, and play.

Doesn't anyone in Japan use mobile phones to record these acts? If something outrageous happened on public transport in NYC, London or even a Chinese city, there's sure to be someone who'll record this and put this up on youtube. Then we'll see how much this scumbag can deny it.

Internal affairs? Yeah, I bet!

Anyone else wish this happened in front of them. Wouldnt batter the guy but would enjoy assisting, drunk line is in the post, follow up please JT.

he should have had enough patience to wait until he got home and watch one of his chikan movies.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

He is currently denying the charges against him by saying that he didn’t molest anyone.

Going to be hard to say you were too drunk to remember anything if you deny the charges so unconditionally.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Dear bartendar, I definitely will not be having what that gentleman been drinking.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

When can we expect him to be arrested and sent to jail for sexual assault like in any other country? Maybe when Japan leaves the 1950's? It's just so sad to have to be reading about this in 2015. When Japan? When will you grow up? You needs higher standards.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Lower half of the species!

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Put him on a train of 60 year old drunk men who grope him!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

At least name and shame the old git .

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Git will do Alistair, there's no shame in old.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Wow. This guy even groped the 2nd woman too. Old geezers here are crazy. No wonder japan has a high prison population of senior citizens.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Lacking any tertiary witnesses or camera footage I'd think it would be prudent for the police to investigate if these two woman are connected in anyway.

Why so many thumbs down? Yes, there are many drunk (and sober) chikans, but there have also been some hoaxes.

I don't know if it's just poor translation, but the story above just sounds really odd. I have trouble accepting it happened as written.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

There's no shame in being old, but there should be shame in being a pervy old git.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

This is so wrong, and yet so funny at the same time!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Is someone in the ministry giving all these thumb downs ?
