Police said Friday that a 77-year-old man and his 76-year-old wife were found dead at their home in Aomori in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
According to police, the bodies of Hiroko Niiyama and her husband were found by their daughter at around 6 p.m. Thursday.
NTV quoted police as saying that Hiroko was found lying on her bed, with a cord tightly wound around her neck. Her husband was found in the garage, having apparently hanged himself, police said.
Police said there were no external injuries on either body, nor did the house show any signs of having been broken into.
The couple were last seen alive on Wednesday night.

Most murders in japan aren't investigated assuming it's suicide. So sad

His taking his own life, though very sad, was his own choice and right. But, taking his wife's life (as anyone else's) is absolutely unacceptable.
My condolences to surviving family and friends.

Horrible thing for a daughter to have to see. No information as to their health so it may have been some kind of domestic dispute.

Scant info. It could be he killed her in a rage, and then killed himself in shame.
Not exactly going quietly into that good night...
